I like her and such. I guess that I kind of flirt with her in clas, I poke her all the time and we talk. She told me that she likes someone else, but the someone has a boyfriend. Should I ask her out or just back off?

I know this is a really old-fashioned view and that all is fair in love and war etc, but how would you feel if someone asked a girl out who you were dating?
Why not be up front with her and casually say "if you weren't going out with your boyfriend do you reckon you would go out with me" - that way she knows you are interested in her and the ball is firmly in her court - if she wants you she will ditch him, if not you can still go on being friends

well you have the chance to ask her out now that that person she likes is dating someone else... who knows she might have a thing for you since she likes it when you poke her...

I would let it go. If she likes you she will ask you, if not then she is obviously waiting for this guy to not have a gf. Stick with being friends.
