I mean its not dust from the saw, its dust of the wood. If you took a file to the saw and grinded it, I think that stuff WOULD be in fact, sawdust.

If I cut a person in half with a saw, is that sawdust on the floor too?

I think it should be called "wood shaving dust thingies"

Any thoughts on this very important matter in our day and age?

in this important and fast paced day and age...we don't have time to say "wood shaving dust thingies"...and so sawdust is the word of choice..

No. Sawdust is dust produced by the action of a saw on wood.
Wood shavings are caused by the action of a plane on wood

Cause it's dust from the wood but it is caused by sawing the wood...hence the term "Sawdust" I 'd rather just say "sawdust" then all that "wood shaving dust thingies" crap

it is dust that the saw creates

if a file was used it would be filings

if a person is cut in half it is called an illusion
