OK, there's a room that is completely closed except for a door that leads you in to the room, which is made out of steel and closes itself. Inside the closed room there is a light bulb which is off.
You are outside the room in a hallway and there are three switches that are exactly alike. One of those switches turns on the light. You want to work out which switch turns on the light BUT you can only open the door once.
So, how do you work out which switch turns on the light without smashing the door in anger?

I would turn the first switch on and leave it on long enough for the bulb to warm, then turn it off. Next I would turn on switch 2 and check the bulb right away. If I found the blub on switch number two would be the correct one. If the blub was on and warm switch number one would be the correct. If the blub was both off and cold, it would have to be controlled by switch number three.

Look through the window and keep trying light switches until you find the right one. The room is completely enclosed, but that doesn't mean it can't have a window or glass walls.
OR
You have a buddy stand inside the room and yell when the bulb turns on (or use a cell phone is the room is soundproof).

I think you may have asked the question wrong because the answer is too simple. Turn all switches on, thus the correct one will turn on the light. Open the door and enter.

switch on one button on after a while switch off one button and switch on third button and after a while switch off the third button and go to the second room and touch the bulb one by one if the bulb is hottest then the third switch is this bulb switch .if the bulb is hot then the first switch is this bulb switch .if the bulb is cold then the second switch is this bulb switch

Open the door wide.Then try to turn on the 3 switches one at a time.If you see light from the room then you've found the switch.
I don't understand the last sentence.........

Hold the door open with your foot or prop it open with something while you check the switches or see what else the switches control. Process of elimination.

Flick one switch for about 20 minutes, then turn it off. flick another switch on and enter the room.
If the bulb is on the switch you last flicked on is the switch.
If the bulb is off but the globe hot then its the first switch you flicked on
if the bulb is cold then its the third switch that you didn't touch

press all three switches at once, enter the room and stay there.
(why would i want to go into a dark scary room in the first place?)

your turn one one on for a minute then turn it off. turn another one on and leave it on. now go inside and if not one of them is hot it is the one that you didn't turn in. if the light bulb is hot it was the first one. if it is on it is the second one.
