I like Stolichnaya. It's reasonably priced and good. (I live in Canada, so there is no really cheap liquor due to minimum price laws - the cheapest vodka is about $20 for a 750mL bottle - the stoli is $24) If I lived in the US though, and could get bottles of booze for $7 and $8, I might do differently.

here is my rant from another post:

Expensive vodka is a joke. Vodka is one of the cheapest liquors to make - there is no storage, aging or blending involved, yet there are vodkas that cost more than 12 and 18 year old single malt whiskies. Expensive vodkas are all about marketing (they don't cost much more to produce than the cheap ones), and having a designer bottle. The distillers have even admitted that the profit margin is massive on the high end vodkas. It's been proven that most people can't even tell the difference between the regular premium brands (smirnoff, stoli, etc.) and the top shelf ones (belvedere, grey goose). Essentially, some people with money want to have a product in their liquor cabinet that shows that they have money, and can afford to spend or $50 or $100 on a bottle of vodka. These top shelf vodkas achieve this.

Another Grey Goose fan here. A friend made me a drink with Grey Goose and soda, and I could only barely tell I was drinking alcohol until the intoxicating effects kicked in. It's a very smooth vodka, but a little pricey.

I also discovered Blavod recently, which is nice as a novelty. It's neat to hand people a pitch black martini and say "drink this".

Absolute is the highest proof vodka there is, there for making it the best! Smirnoff is only 40% proff where as Absolute is 80%!

The best vodka is potato vodka--the grain vodkas are way different---about 19 dollars a fifth.
