I got my industrial repierced about a month and a half ago. Ever since then I've noticed the bottom part is slightly swollen and red and there is rough skin like around the bar that won't come off. I've been cleaning it and everything and this didn't happen before when I took it out. Is it infected, or is healing really slowly? please help me!!

This is one of the many reasons why doctors strongly recommend against piercings of this kind. The hole can get seriously infected on the inside and there is no way to effectively clean it.

Watch for painful swelling in the weeks to come and the possiblity of puss filled blisters occuring on the inside of the hole and working their way to the surface.

Go sit in a whirlpool or hot tub and soak the affected area. The water may get in and wash the infection away and the heat will help drive the infection outwards. Though the infection may pollute the water in the process. Applying warm wet cloth as a compress the rest of the time could help too. You might want to take some antibiotics as well and treat the problem from the inside out. See your doctor if it gets bad enough.

I got an industrial piercing on 9/30/06 and the lower piercing is still a little swollen. It was real sensitive for a while. I does not mean it is infected. If its pussing and oozing stuff then it might be infected. The rough stuff I'm assuming is crusting which come off with hot water and are normal.
To avoid infection and help the piercing heal faster do sea salt soaks. Trust me its helped me so much. Take a cup of hot water and add a teaspoon of sea salt (not reg. salt and no iodine) and tilt your head to the side and hold the cup up to your ear for at least 5 min and more like 10 min for the best results. This helps draw bacteria out of your piercing and help blood flow/healing. Then make sure to rinse all the salt off real good and dry it off.

im not sure whether this will work for industrial piercing infection since it'd take a longer time to heal. i had a earlobe piercing infection some months back and those piercing aftercare solution didnt work for me. i searched for solutions online and followed one about using a hot compress on the infection. i didnt have a hot compress so i used some tissue paper and warm water( as warm as u can take it) and applied some pressure on the infection( but not so much till it hurts). my infection started recovering within a few days

Meanwhile, pls take care of your infection!
