It was a thoughtful question and deserves a thoughtful answer.............................I daily read news reports about hundreds of casualties, and I know these are underreported.
I think of my own two sons, both grown and how America's young are being so ill used in Iraq.
They were sent there on dubious intel into a culture they had no real introduction to, let alone been education about....They all have done as much good as they have been able to do.
The problem is Not IN Iraq. It is in the hearts and minds of people everywhere who cannot tollerate any divergence from what "they" think the world should belive.
Im not living in fear of terrorists, even though I know the threat exists, it exists for everyone equally, all over the world all the time.
And it will continue to do so as long as we let our doctrine control our destiny. Any God you believe in.........gave humans free will and good brains. We don't need Faith to guide us (Im not disputing that it helps). And I lament greatly that we so often let Faith be a large wall between us.
Of course it affects me, it affects everyone in the World. While we continue to fight "pissant wars"; the World has serious Warming problems we are doing little to nothing about.
As to your ethnicity, I am sorry you have to experience the rampant stupidity that surrounds Faith issues.
Im sorry anyone does.
War is stupid.

Gee, maybe because all of us are not so selfish.
Maybe, because we know that the war in Iraq will someday result in the deaths of thousands, and possibly millions, of American’s – and if we are alive when it happens we might not be alive they day after (or maybe we will not want to be alive the day after).
Maybe its because our reputation is so shot and our military so strained that we have no influence on world affairs. Leaders from North Korea, Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba punk Bush right to his face and there is nothing he can, or will, do about it.
Maybe because our nation has wasted so much money that it may cripple the infrastructure of our nation and the quality of life for all Americans from this moment forward.

I've had multiple friends in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of my friends was killed by an i.e.d. in Iraq. I don't understand people blaming the president for a solider dying. And I don't see the point of trying to stop something from happening that has already happened. Its fine not to agree with going to war but jesus christ it gets old quick. If any one has the right to complain about the United States going to war its the people who VOLUNTEERED to go into the military. I put volunteered in all caps because yes it sucks to have someone die because of a war but that person volunteered to join the military. Some people say well they didn't volunteer to go to war. They're right but its the military if they joined thinking they were going to sit around chewing bubble gum and blowing bubbles they're an idiot.
War sucks yes. War is inevitable though.
Our military is not drained. And another attack on American soil is inevitable with or with out the war in Iraq. So shut up and stop believing everything someone tells you. Also our nation has been in and out of debt since its creation. Naturally inflation causes it to rise and fall. Inflation will cripple the country way before a national debt will. You know why? Because American currency is not back by anything but the people's faith in it.

It's made travel to Iraq and the general Middle East quite hard. We had to be armed by US soldiers when we went to certain parts of Baghdad.
And don't get me started on Syria, but nevermind, that's a different war.

I think the war has forced many individuals, I included, to pay attention a little more closely to this nightmare of a political power trip set forth by bush and Big business. Instead of just hearing one story or another about a variable loss incurred through legislation and thinking it was an aberrition from a lucky schmoe who got to be President my views changed through investigating and educating these stories which are truly the most horrific in any stretch of political history. Somebody gave the keys to the country to a madman and he made copies and passed them out. You can look at every single facet of every single division of Government and find a story, piece of Republican legislation, or Presidential order that directly changed the policy that was in place in order to favor Big business's ability to take away any decent persons ability to earn a living through working a job that provides a living wage with reasonable cost of living adjustments.
I'm a Union electrician from the Motor City. For the last 4 years we have averaged about one third of our memebership out of work for at least one year. Prior to Bush--If I needed time off, I had to take a vacation. Under Clinton-I was quitting 40 hr jobs to go work a 50 hr job and sometimes I'd quit that one too to go work 60!! Now I'm outta work, out of benefits, and off to some other state come the new year to go work at another local whose scale is anywhere from 10 to 30 percent less than Detroit's. With all of our tax dollars going overseas and shifting up the ladder there's no funding available for economic development here. I went to our Christmas meeting and watched our Business Manager answer questions regarding the "Hooray for me, screw this brotherhood stories" in our trade and it was like watching a man in handcuffs. Locally we have done everything a grassroots political community can do for the state of Michigan. Our governor is a Democrat, our recently (R) controlled State House and Senate are now more balanced, but Federally--were doomed until this Fascist Machine is over-run. Our auto companies made the mistake of following (R) policies and trying to make changes after, but the rate of deregulation was impossible to keep up with. They should have seen the writing on the wall and been a little more pro-active. But what do CEO's really deem important besides their own--they know they can walk away and live top notch lives regardless.
10 days into Bush's first term is when Cheney had his secretive energy commision meetings with the Corporate Multi-nationals. It was there that they discussed what was going to happen in Iraq for at the time, sanctions were about to be lifted which would have enabled Saddam Husseins oil contracts to go into effect. Those contracts contained not one U.S. entity. Within that meeting is where they looked at the breakdown of Iraq's oil infastructure and devised the overtaking of Iraq. Next they developed the after plan which had no concerns for the Country of Iraq, next they brought in Bremmer to fascilitate their plan, which is to have Iraq's oil industry privatized by America's Big Oil companies. You find a policy that's not working in Iraq--relate it to how it doesn't match up to their plan--and why it failed is blatantly obvious.
Our overall situation in Local, State, and Federal politics has nowhere to go but back towards our side. I don't know if I'll ever get back to solvency, but all along the way at least I'll know I'm doing my part for the benefit of all. Painting our country in a corner will be their biggest mistake.

$450,000,000,000 tax dollars affects me, Turk.
It's taking money out of my community. My town, county and state have to put up more money because they're getting less help from the feds, who are spending more on our military than all other nations combined spend on theirs.
