I am interested in the Communications graduate programs at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Hawaii Pacific University. Because Hawaii is so diverse, it seems like it would be a good place to study international communication. However, I have heard from several people who used to live in Hawaii that the quality of the academic programs at Hawaiian universities is not that great. Does anyone have any opinions on this?

Thanks!

Yes, for the mostpart, the quality of the academic programs are poor here and the cost of living is ridiculous. I would not recommend it unless you really are dead-set on coming here and have a lot of money.

If you're looking for a top ranked university, then Hawaii isn't the best place to go.

However, if you plan to stay and work in Hawaii after you graduate, then it would make sense to go to a graduate school program in Hawaii. Also, between UH Manoa and HPU - definitely go with UH Manoa.

I grew up in Hawaii, and left to get my undergraduate degree. It was worth paying the out-of-state tuition to get a better education.

i understand the uncomplicated allure of going to a school in Hawaii. I mean, c'mon. you have mind-blowing beaches, interesting custom (distinctive from continental US, etc). so a great way as "bang to your dollar" in a crude experience, look on the cost of living on any island. you will no longer get a greater useful training on the college of Hawaii once you should be getting one on your contemporary state. you go with for to choose for the ambience, and on an identical time as there is no longer something incorrect with that, embody it a minimum of. And sure, I do have faith the training gadget in Hawaii is subpar for various motives. One, being pupils bypass to those faculties completely for area, no longer for training. for that reason those faculties do no longer could be practically as aggressive as others.

maybe if you are interested in diversity. that is a good idea. you would also be a shorter plane flight to asia, if you wanted to visit there for research purposes or learning.
