It's a measure of granularity. A mega pixel = 1 million pixels in while 1k pixels = 1000 pixels. 6 mega pixels (6 million pixels) = 6000k pixels. The more granularity, the more clarity and definition of your photos. The more pixels used to represent an image, the closer the result can resemble the original. The higher the pixels, the higher the resolution (trueness to the original).

basically it adds up to about 6000 k pixels, it's the same terms used for computer memory for example. 1 MB is equal to about 1000 KB. just change the byte to pixel

for good quality u need high pixels

i think 1k pixel is 1 megapixel .... i could be wrong ... just a guess
