Just be respectful. Don't brag about stuff. Be humble. That sort of thing will usually be enough to keep you out of trouble.

People are cool here. Everyone is laid back and very friendly but they are not easily impressed. The harder you try the more they will reject you.

In short... No one cares where you came from or what you did there. Even if people ask, try your best to keep the response short. Don't ever complain about Hawaii or the people.

If you come across like you think you're a big shot, the locals will put you in your place.

Try to remember that you are starting all over again from zero. Whatever you did before arriving in Hawaii does not count.

Try to talk about Hawaii stuff. Where on the island do you live or work now. If you're going to school here, talk about that. Do not talk about where you lived on the mainland or, worked, people you knew, things you did or classes you took before arriving in Hawaii.

First of all... No one cares & no one is impressed. (Seriously)

Secondly... If you say that you did something cool... it's probably a lie. Even if it's true, no one will believe you. If they do believe you, than that's even worse because you're bragging about yourself.

Third... If it was so freaking cool, then why don't you go back to where you came from you arrogant punk. What? You think you're better than me?
