I have a neighbor whose kids are almost always dressed up in dress clothes even in the summer. The boy’s normal attire is a dress button up shirt (sometimes with a tie), dress pants, dress shoes and socks. On the little girl it is always a nice dress and dress shoes. I do not think them dressing up is a bad thing, but I do not see the reason everyday. It not like they are outside playing in the mud like this, but I see them in and out of the house on any given day. Has anyone ever seen this or do this with their children.

To the B franki, This is yahoo answers, we ask all kinds of off the wall questions. I do not think I'm out of line wondering why a neighbors kids would be dressed in clothes that would be worn to a wedding in the middle of summer around the house.

For my children they have play clothes then stuff they wear to special occasions and then just everyday wear. Maybe the parents want their children to look their best at all times, nothing wrong with that. I would much rather see nicely dressed clean children then children with stains, messy hair and food on their face. :-)

And this is a perfect example of people not minding their own business. Being so bored or unhappy with their own life that they have to be concerned with how other people live.
It is none of your freaking business. Good grief people can not even put nice clothing on their children without being judged by their neighbors. Get a life!!!!
you are out of line. the standard of attire has deteriorated and the moment someone exceeds the standard you complain. let me guess you probably call it child abuse. By the way i think i know a little more about yahoo.ANSWERS considering i have far more activity than you on here and furthermore if you do not like getting answers that disagree with you then do not ask the questions.

I have a 14 year old who has over a dozen dress shirts (with cufflinks and tieclips) and only likes to wear dress pants. He is the ONLY kid in his high school wearing a fedora and dress clothes to school and he was sent home last year for bringing a decorative cane to school. I never thought I'd ever say I wish my son would wear a pair of dirty jeans but it would be nice *lol*
It might be that the kids like dressing that way. My son thinks he looks "hot" in dress shirts and last year in his senior public school, a lot of the other boys started copying him. That trend didn't last too long. My son is quite popular and doesn't mind looking different. His confidence in himself is a wonderful thing and he is more comfortable in his unique style of clothing than he would be in the all black outfits his friends wear.
If the kids aren't comfortable in the "dress" clothes, they'll soon rebel. Clothing and style is so important to a child's sense of self and it's a simple thing to let them control. Parents who are too strict on something that's a small thing seem to be the ones who end up having to deal with he really big problems.

As my two girls (3&5) have 5 polo shirts and skirts/trousers each to wear at school i'm really not fussed whether they get changed or not as there will always be a clean one for the next day. I buy their uniform from Asda or Sainsburys so can be quite reasonable (Asda one pound for a poloshirt!) and probably at this stage get more paint, glue etc on it at school anway. If I had to buy more expensive unform (my friends' children who go to a catholic school where they have to buy everything from John Lewis and a kilt alone costs 25 pounds!) I would have them get changed. Basically it really depends on what's going on that day ie if they have dance classes or are going to a friends' house etc. I don't make them wear it and it is a comfortable uniform. I guess when they get older they may wish to change esp at senior school when they wear shirts and ties. All I know is that it really helps with keeping the wash bin from completely spilling over as at the weekends they do tend to have a habit of getting changed 2/3 times a day!! Haha just looked at the website mentioned and it does look a bit like a fetish type one and is a bit pervy!!! Obviously someone wants to speak to people about wearing uniform-whatever rocks ya boat!!

If I let my seven year old so wear what he wanted, that's how he would dress. He loves to wear his suit and tie as often as possible and he gets really excited when I suggest buying new dress shirts and slacks. My daughters, on the other hand, both just want to be comfortable and my youngest son will take his clothes off at the first opportunity.

I dont dress my kids up, but I dont let them out of the house dressed in rags either, like some parents. However since it is your neighbors kids I would just let well enough alone. Its her decision how she dresses her children. But I wouldnt do it.

yikes. seems like that would get tedious... some people dress their kids more formally for religious reasons (I dont remember specifially what religion, but I remember watching a documentary on it before.) and I guess there are people who are just really obsessed with appearances... for the first 3 months my son was always dressed perfectly.. then I realised.. hes a kid!! Its impossible to keep them perfect.. they get into things.. they puke.. they pee... as long as hes tidy, his clothes have no holes, and he is clean... im happy! Who knows.. people have their quirks! It could really make those kids obsessed with image though.
