First of all, you are only 15 so you shouldn't be worried. Don't fall back to the ex. It causes nothing but emotional pain 90% of the time. If you like this new guy, give it a go. It may be something great. You just have to break free if you think you have met someone who could be a potential mate. Letting go of old emotions is hard, but it is something that is necessary for moving on with your life. If you let this guy go, you may miss out. But, don't date him if you aren't that into him because he doesn't deserve that.

I would think that this is sucha gray area to solve. It's what you would call a double-edged sword...whatever decision you make can bring a long-lasting effect on you afterwards. The best thing I can tell you is just be honest with him about how you're feeling. Most of the time honesty is the best way to go. If he understands, then he understands. If not...then he'll end up missing out on a great person if things don't end up well with your ex afterwards.

Lame is some guy walking around telling that you are going out and you are afraid to tell him otherwise.
Your opinion counts. Your feelings count just as much as his. If you arent ready for it, he needs to hear that. If you arent ready a hundred times in a row, tell him each time. Its your responsibility to tell him, and his to respect it.
Be real. Dont be afraid of his opinion, which is what "sounding lame" really translates into. Your opinion is valid, and needs to be spoken clearly, and respected.

You are young to be so worried. Just tell him you like him but need time. He should understand. If not, then he is not the right guy for you. You need someone who wants the best for you. Good luck!

Tell him. There's no way to say it without hurting him. The sooner you tell him, the sooner he'll get over it.
