We are a diverse country and I welcome all LEGAL immigrants! If you are going about coming here the right way......welcome! If anyone has plans to sneak over the border, they will not be welcomed. This has nothing to do with race, we are a mixture of the best of all races and ethnic backgrounds in America. This issue with illegals who are undocumented and draining our system at the taxpayers expense, is a real worry to most Americans. Please don't feel like all Americans will hate you because of race. This is simply not the truth. We want those who wish to come here to do it legally through the proper channels.

Atlanta is a large, multicultural city but you bet Georgia, like other southern states, has a disproportionate population of racist rednecks.
No state is without racism but the best I've found are WA,CA, OR and the Northeast.
By the way I can understand American anger against Arabs because of world events. I'm not saying it's justifiable, but it's understandable. But the racists use th excuse to hate ALL non-white immigrants, even those who have nothing to do with such events. Remember the Sikh guy who was shot dead in Arizona?

Okay, buddy here are the facts: Like it or not rascism is everywhere, not just US, but worldwide. It is a human nature to feel better about oneself by thinking others are inferior, be it due to wealth, race, color, ethnicity, height, sex, you name it.

I myself am a (legal) immigrant who came to USA 21 years ago when I was a teenager. I love this country and would die if it was attacked unfairly. Have i felt rascism? I have to be honest, and say that early on yes I did, but I think it was because I didn't know the language or the "American" culture well enough. But being a student and financially not desparate (even though at one time i delivered pizzas), I was sheltered far more than a typical immigrant ("fresh off the boat").

I have lived in TX (Dallas and Houston) for about 13 yrs and in California for 8 years. I have been to 48 states and visited a lot of cities. I initially used to think that the South (Southern Virginia to Eastern Texas) was a dangerous place to be full of rascist rednecks who were KKK and/or skinheads (I have actually befriended a couple of rednecks in my younger days).

But, this stereotype is no longer as applicable as 20 yrs ago. The south has all kinds of people and if you try to integrate yourself into the community (learn the language, the culture and try to be friendly with others), than you will be accepted. Do not only live with or near people from your country exclusively. Actually southerners are very friendly and kind people who will go out of their way to help you if they can.

Having said that, I myself prefer the West and NW and Texas. These places are not as crowded and there are many people that have migrated to these states from the Eastern states (actually southern states also have a large influx of northerners also who come here to get away from populated cities and expensive housing wiht nice weather).

So to surmise, rascism is a human nature most prevelant among people who have inferiority complexes; every state in US has good and bad people; if you do not want to be discriminated against, then learn the language and American culture well and socialize and live with not just your own type.

Finally, Vote as soon as you become a citizen.

Welcome to America and You are lucky. I am a long time immigrant and I can see why you are fear of racism and I urge you to move to Silicon Valley, San Jose, Sunnyvale etc. You will enjoy California more because, of the weather and I urge you to read about America and her Country. If you want to be here you should get good books about our country and use your judgment to find out why is racism in America and the world.

Check out San Francisco and down a bit south of there too.
Racism is in all places so be prepared.
We got people here that don't like blacks and so on cuz they probubly remind them of poor Southerners in our South (Amer.). Not right but that's it. Just cause you are different is all those kinds need. Frankly, if you ARE different there are people in the area I mention that like you for that alone! Ha! Different can be GOOD!
But this is one city, of the freest in the world. Congratulations. Make your life what you will and good luck!
Enjoy!

Racism is all over the world in all nationalities. What do you think the USA has the racism market covered? As a matter of fact we are one of the least racist societies in the world...
