Talk to him, ask him about what he is interested in, and make him talk about himself. After that share some common ground, like talk about what the both of you are interested in and do the things you both like doing.

Be the best person you can be. Get out often and be pleasant. Have a life with friends and interests. Develop yourself. Care about others and be involved with like-minded people.
