Your parents job is to protect you.. that doesnt just mean that they need to be a wall to the outside world. They also have written in their hearts that they must see to it that you are treated worthily.
Children have little respect. The men that I know who have beaten their wives are all, all all all all all (did you get all?) they are all childish. When thwarted they throw tantrums, and are not afraid to act out violently.
You should have a bf who respects and admires you. He should be worthy of you. You should have a boyfriend that you cherish and respect. You should be a woman who is worthy of such a man. Both of you should treat each other rightly, and richly, and wonderfully. Children are incapable of that.. adults are not incapable.
Btw: mens brains dont congeal until after they are 22. If you give your heart to a man younger than that.. or if you give your heart away when your marriage would otherwise be legally statutory rape expect it to be broken. Wait until you are between 18 and 20 and wait until he is 22. Otherwise you are taking a HUGE risk.

At 17 years old, he shouldn't be acting like a "child". I think you should listen to your parents and dump him. I know you don't want to hear it, but parents are usually right on this kind of thing. My parents didn't like some of my exes and they all turned out to be jerks.

My b/f is almost 22 and he still acts like a kid sometimes. I personally think that it keeps our relationship fun. My parents don't really care for him either, but I don't really care what they think. He makes me happy and that's the most important thing, right? I don't think you should ask so much of him... maybe calm him down when he starts acting really childish... but maybe you should ask your parents to just try to accept him for who he is because he makes you happy.

My ex boyfriend wasn't liked by my parents and that put a strain on everything. I didn't want him to think they didn't like him but it was fairly obvious. Maybe your boyfriend will grow on them. They'll see how happy he makes you and it may make them happy too. Just have some fun and don't stress too much. Realize that he may not grow on your parents and they may not like him much. Tell them how much fun he is.
Good luck with everything.

you can do whatever you please. trust me though, if you agree that he acts immature, you will end up leaving him anyway. And sadly, my parents have been right about every guy ive ever dated, i was with a guy for 5 years that my parents hated with every fiber of their being, and sure enough, he was cheating and lying, and he was abusive....personally, because hind sight is 20/20, id follow my parents instincts, but do what you gotta do.

You're not engaged, right? You are just dating someone who you like to be around. He should be fun. Maybe your parents don't get him, but they will.
My grandparents hated my dad when they met him. Later on he matured, changed and they loved him.
Good luck.
