10 month old weighs 10 pounds..... 4 month old weighs 8 pounds.

They are domestic kittens. The 10 pound is a black tuxedo and when he walks, his gut looks like its dragging on the ground.

They are very big for their age. Are you still feeding them Kitten Chow? Kitten food is very concentrated in calories, which is perfect for fast growing baby kittens who can't eat much. Your cats, however, are no longer kittens, they are teenagers who need to eat normal food. Kitten food is too rich for them.

To avoid lifelong problems of obese cats, you should see your vet about how to take better care of their weight.

I doubt that you are doing anything wrong but these kittens are awfully big! I have a feeling that one of their forebears must be a very large breed. I have a Ragdoll and the vet fusses at me every time I take her in about her weight - but the average weight of a Ragdoll female is 15 pounds and a male is 20 pounds. She was big from the beginning. I am now feeding her a light diet adult food. She hasn't lost any weight (weighs 16 pounds - is 5 years old) but she hasn't gained so perhaps it is doing some good.

I wonder if you are leaving dry food out all the time. If so, you should ask the vet how much dry food kittens of this age should eat and leave out only that amount - provided you can stand the pleading of two beloved kittens! At any rate, take them to the vet for a checkup.

I tried this with my cat and I literally could not live with the commotion that she raised all day long when she had eaten all of her day's portion of food.

that is very strange ,kittens should look normal and healthy because their food comes mainly from the mother and they usually do nort over feed yet
people can overfeed cats and dogs that will become unhealthely fat
but it is unusual with the young
better ask a vet

If his gut is dragging, you might want to try a weight control formula food. Weight really depends on your cat's bone structure.

I would get these babies to a vet soonest. There is definetely some thing wrong with a cat that young weighing that much. there are several possibilities from parasites to FIP.

Yes, your cats are on the chubby side. How much do you feed them?

Also, are you sure the cats aren't Maine Coon mixes? If so, then they aren't on the chubby side since Maine Coons get to be around 20lbs.
