I don't know about a few hours but after a few minutes you will still be able to smell that smell. A friend of mine and I were sitting around drinking and eating macadamia nuts we had emptied the jar I had to fart and I thought it would be funny to fart in the jar. I farted into the jar (It fogged up) put the lid on it and handed it to her and said smell. She took the cap off and almost fainted.

Yep. Whatever's in the fart that smells will still be in the can a few hours later.

Well, assuming that there isn't much space for the "fart gas" molecules to diffuse, then the smell will still be there!
MERRY CHRISTMAS HOHOHO.

No question about it - it would have a very long shelf life.
It's a novel idea, but, unfortunately, there isn't a market out there for canned farts - so don't bother looking for investors.

yes the fart smell molecules would not disperse and thus the smell would remain in the can.

NOPE! because it would settle to the bottom and become an inert GAS with no discernible properties.
