I have a female shih tzu in her first heat cycle I noticed it since December 1st , I separated her from my male shih tzu because she is still a puppy. When can she return home?

Dogs are generally in heat for 21 days. Introducing her back home now should be fairly safe. Are you planning on breeding her? If not, you should really look into getting her fixed. It can be a hassle trying to separate the two of them every time she goes in heat.

Dogs stay in heat for about 3 weeks, but this can vary depending on the dog. I would recommend keeping them separated for 4 weeks to prevent any unwanted pregnancies.

3 weeks is usually the normal length for a heat cycle. You can bring her back home but watch them carefully and if they seem to want to mate, then seperate them again, but she should be fine.
