I don't do well in humidity or cold. I have narrowed my search to three states, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada. I am an artist with not a lot of money, two dogs, a cat and need to find a place that I could also afford where the cost of living is lower than L.A..

I lived in the Santa Fe area several years ago. You should look into it.

Beatty, Nevada. Rhyolite, Nv is just a short drive away--it is a ghost town but some aritst(s) have set up some art displays there. Right in the desert.
Intensely hot, but not humid. I love it there and go whenever I have the chance.

Arizona or Nevada maybe give Austin, Texas a chance

Don't live in nevada becuase its expensive and if your thinking of Vegas you'll spend evry last cent....But try liveing on california but like palm springs or somthing like that or even utah is very less expensive.

I just moved to Las Vegas, a lot of my co/workers are from L.A
New Mexico looks really nice, from what i have seen. Vegas is big but a cool place to live, looks to do and see.

I think your best bet would be Nevada.
