I will be the first to admit that when I want to I can be very self rightous and I have had the attitude that I should be blessed for following Gods laws. Over the years life happened and I was put in very tough situaions I never thought possible I say this would never happen to me well guess what it did.

Instead of going to God properly and asking him what I caould learn from these hurts and disappointment I became very chilish and said I did not want to be a christain anymore and the only reaosn I went to church is my husband said I must be there and I could not wait for church to be "over with" so I could start the rest of my day. .

Now I am more mature and received grace and healing from the Lord and I thank God that he has not given me what i TRULY deserve, my question is how to I get the fire and the passion and the zeal to want to go to church and hunger for the Lord once again? I want to go forward not backwards thank youand God bless you.

My suggestion is that you read your bible and pray,
Earnestly, and fervently.
Humbly go to God and in his time (as you say), he will give you the desires of your heart

Its all by grace mate.

I'd start by a personal Bible study - pick a topic you enjoy, there are many good inexpensive Bible study books at your local Christian book store. As you start getting into the Word of God, you will find that you want to read it more and more. Pray, not just a wish list, but a sincere conversation with God. Tell Him you want to reignite the fire - spend alone time with Him.

I can understand your feeling. I used to go to church twice a week; we have weekday service at 7:30 p.m. and then morning service on Sunday. I just became a christian and was hunger for God. When you have that passion, you feel so peaceful and you feel His presence. Now, I'm so busy with other stuff that I put off going to church. The thing is - you just have to make that effort. I listen to the sermon every night before going to bed or listen to my CD bible. The time I have with God is when I drive to work - listen to Christian music and praising Him. Just like David (in Psalm) I write to God.

Get back in the habit of spending time with Him and be still before Him. Have you heard of Dr. Mark Virkler, hearing God Voice? Listen to it - you will learn to hear His Voice.

Thank you for sharing and for being so honest and open w/ us.
(May I recommend reading "The Practice of the Presence of God" by Brother Lawrence. It can be downloaded for free at Christian Classics ehtereal library. Really blessed me.

Get more involved in the work and worship at your local church. If it's Catholic, make sure you participate in all the appropriate sacraments, as well.

Start a religious study project.

Send for my free Catholic Resource CD which contains about 99% of the most important, timeless teachings of the universal Christian church, in an easy to use and easy to understand format.

Pray.

Ask God to fuel the fire.... pray for that desire in your heart. going to church to worship God should be a privilege ... not a requirement. when you are in right relationship completely, He will restore the hunger for Him as well as the desire to seek out other Christians for friendship and fellowship... and worshipping Him as a whole body of Christ is amazing...

I am a born again Christian myself and I, also admit I have many weaknesses and faults that could be corrected or even eliminated, though I know I'll never be perfect in this life - no one can be. However, God has given us the gift of prayer, which is our open communication with him spiritually. Here are some encouraging verses to remember about prayer. 1 Thess. 5:15-24 - "See that none of you render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. 16 - Rejoice evermore. 17 - Pray without ceasing. 18 - In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19 - Quench not the Spirit. 20 - Despise not prophesyings. 21 - Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 - Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 - And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 - Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. 1 Thess. 2:13 - For this cause also thank we God without ceasing because when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. Colossians 1:1-3 - If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 - Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 - For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 1 Timothy 6:11 - But thou, of man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Beware of what others tell you to deceive you from the faith also. 1 Timothy 3-5 - 3 - If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 - He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 - Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. The last part of that last verse reminds me of the rich people in this life who think by being wealthy, they'll please God and get to heaven; that God will accept them into heaven because they have lots of worldly weath - not so. Anyway, I hope I've been of some help to you. Merry Christmas and may God Bless.

Why do you believe that you are going backwards? How can you see God through a veil of passion, why can god only be found in a church? You say that you have found God within yourself, why do you need to look any further? Your God can be found in serenity as well as passion...

Try to switch churches, maybe. I know of churches that are very planned out and well....boring. But i also know some that are very upbeat and spiritual.

Find something good in going -in the people, the messages, the surroundings, the ability to worship as you please. LOOK for the good and you'll want to return.
