I woud shy away from a mercedes. It's german, and will have costly repairs. You would not be able to afford a new mercedes but you could pick up a relatively new one (1999-2002) for around or under that budget. For example, a C230 Kompressor Coupe. I'd make sure though if you buy a Kompressor style engine that it has been serviced, otherwise you'll run into a maintenance nightmare. Prepare yourself for puting at least 93 octane into your tank also.

Look on edmunds.com for more info about any type of car.

yes, you can buy an older Mercedes, however if it needs repair it will be more expensive to buy the parts, etc. My friend bought a Jaguar from a rebuildable junk yard for less than 3000.00, a tail-light cost him a couple of hundred, the trunk lid was messed up, I believe that cost around 300.00 he done the work himself and then sold the car for much more than what he had paid for it.

you can't get a new benz for 20 grand. i wouldnt suggest spending 20 grand on an old one because at some point, all used cars are the same--just OLD

with 20k, i would buy a new car with starting price less than 20k. but you obviously want something luxurious.

depending on why you want a benz, you can find another car that offers the same (styling, handling, power, etc) at a lower price. so pick what you want most out of it and find it for 20k

Forget the old Merc, unless you want to stay broke. They are safe but expensive to repair and insure. Buy a fully imported Japanese car with a good service history, you'll save on gas too.

YOu can get a use done for that but why you would want to is beyond me. WE had one once and it was a dog! I think they are way over hyped. I would never have another one. it was not only a dog but the ride was that comfortable.
