I was going to say "ignore her," but I suspect your neighbor is the malicious sort and may find a way to hurt your cats or otherwise make your life a total misery. Why not invite an authority figure like your landlord or animal control representative or even a cop and ask them to make a "tour" of your home to verify if the cats are living in any kind of unsanitary and maladorous condition. Say that this is becuase of an on-going complaint from your neighbor. Since you keep the "den" as clean as you do, you shouldn't have any worries. But ask for a piece of paper from the authority figure that they inspected on such and such a day and found everything fine. Make a copy and give it to your neighbor. The written report will also give you a valuable document in case your neighbor steps up her harrassment. If anything happened to your cats, the piece of paper will also provide written proof that your neighbor can be a prime suspect. Oh, don;t forget to inform your neighbor of that little fact.

There is no way your neighbor can smell your cats from outside. It sounds like you are doing way more than necessary to keep odor down. I think your neighbor is nutty. That being said maybe you could try this...... first off tell her all that you have done and remind her that no other neighbor has complained. Secondly, is it possible for you to board your cats somewhere for a couple of days? Maybe a friend? Then go to your neighbor and say you are keeping your cats in the basement and has she noticed any difference. I am sure she will say no and then you can bust out the fact that they are not even there. Kinda mean, but she is not being very nice either.

Oviously you have a cat hater for a neighbor, I feel sorry for you, but even more for her, because she will never have the joy a cat can bring to your life. Sounds to me you take admirable care of your kitties keep up the good work! Just for your own satisfaction, have an impartial person with a good sense of smell come over and give your home a sniff. You can become used to a smell and no longer notice it although I doubt that is the case here. good luck

Ok, so for some reason your neighbor doesn't like you and is using your cats as an excuse. I would just ignore her. Obviously, you and her are never going to be friends. Some people just don't have anything better to do then complain about everything.

Plus, if you take that good care of your kitties, should she ever call the authorities, they will come and see that the alligations are false.

Sorry for your troubles and I hope things calm down.

You don't need to bathe your cats, I'm surprised you have any flesh left on your arms!

The only thing I can think that she might be smelling is the litter after it's put in the garbage, to remedy this make sure you put it all in a plastic trash bag that isn't prone to tearing or developing holes (quality bags in other words) and tie it all up so it's air tight (spinning the end of the bag and then tying it in a knot). If your neighbor persists in being a pain I would honestly tell her to go to hell.

if you can handle it, go to the shelter and get another cat (or more!)

if that's not an option, just don't bathe the cats for a while. then she'll know what a smelly cat really is.... don't not change the litter though, unless you get more boxes, cause that's mean to the kitties.

I used to never bathe my cats. I figured they're equipped to do it themselves, and I never had a problem with their smell.

Your neighbor is a little uptight, there's always one. You could try talking it out rationally or you could mark her an enemy, depends on what type of person you are. I wouldn't give much of a care if I was putting that much effort into cleaning my cats -- i'd know for myself they smell good.

First of all HATE is too big of a word. Second of all, this sounds pretty fake, but on the contrary if it is true then your neighbor is right. No matter how much you use those stuff , pets smell. Even if they are domesticated, THEY SMELL. If you have carpet floors(NOT HARDWOOD) then the smell has gotten into them. I would suggest renting professional cleaners to clean your home and building a new separate room for them.
In addition, your neighbor has every right to sue you, in case they may be allergic, or because they have to move since your cats DO STINK!!!!!!! Your house air may not be intoxicated, but the atmosphere may surely be.
Anyways, I am not trying to be mean or rude, but it would be best of your interest to keep your neighbors happy.

the best thing to do is to let her know your routines with your cats that way she cant possibly say they stink. if the person continues you need to tell someone important i know this because i have a neighbor that about a 4 years ago stole my kids toys he said they were to loud they were like trucks and stuff well i sent my husband over there and we figured out where he kept them well then my kids decided to medal into things and they were gone the next day trust me your going to want to tell someone or confront her yourself

You are so British! But yeah, about the cats, your neighbor is totally overreacting.
