To my knowledge there are two scriptures quoted in reference: one in the Old Testament where God tells the Israelites not to cut and mark themselves in their grief as the prophets of Baal did, and one in the New Testament where Paul says the Body is like a Temple and should not be desecrated, though the context is excesses and sexual immorality.

Are you portraying something that would cause someone else to stumble? What is it that you are edifying? Those are the things that I ask myself when I consider whether something should be done by a Christian.(myself, that is). I don't think that a tattoo is the end of being saved. I don't think God gets into my hair being long or short, or whether I eat pork or shrimp. Or that I don't wear a dress, and I like my lipstick.

I think that he is concerned with the writing on my heart and mind.

from a tattooed Christian, trying to walk her walk. For Jesus.

Some people consider Tattoos, Art. I prefer the beauty of the body the way the Creator designed it. Tattoos are a turn off for most people.

Well, I'm a grandmother with both an ankle bracelet tattoo and a naval piercing. Both are tasteful and discreet, and I am SOOOO glad that neither will keep me from heaven! I'm glad Jesus majors on the majors, and that it's all about my relationship with Him that counts!

I can find no Catholic teaching against tattoos.

However a point to ponder:

You are a masterpiece work of art, created in the image and likeness of the artist, God.

Would you go up to Leonardo Da Vinci's painting "The Last Supper" and try to "improve" it by adding your own touches here and there?

With love in Christ.

Why would it be a sin? That's just dumb stuff to keep young people from thinking to much out of the box. Keep them stupid, keep them yours.

Tattoos are not a sin. However, their is also no scripture that says, "Tattoos are O.K., get one if you must....however it does say, "Judge not so you be not judged."
