INTERNET EXPLORER:
Pros:
New version includes "Tabbed" browsing"
It's the standard that almost all websites are built to suit
Cons:
Substantial System Hog!
MOZILLA FIRE FOX:
Pros:
Has had tabbed browsing for a while.
Uses considerably less system resources
Cons:
Some websites will not work property.
FOR ME:
I use FireFox for 95% of my browsing. if I run into a website that won't work, THEN I will view it in I.E. Otherwise, I stick to FireFox.

For basic use any one of these 2 will do fine, the new internet explorer is very stable, although if you like to have a much more customizable web browser mozilla firefox will be great, you can change the way it looks the way you want. and its free and there are lots of cool add-ons.

This is a bit contentious as you will get a lot of mixed responses! The fact of the matter is that *both* are really good, don't believe you can only get viruses from internet explorer you can just as easily catch one through firefox.
Personally I use Firefox, but I still have to revert to Internet Explorer as not all sites (like banking etc) are 100% Firefox compatable. You can happily have several browsers living and running together - at work I use I.E, Firefox, Opera, Avant and Netscape (mainly for testing web pages/sites) all on the same pc.
With Firefox you get a lot of extensions which are very handy, but you can get the same functionality with third party add ons for internet explorer, I use Foxie (http://www.getfoxie.com/ ) which adds a lot of Firefox functionality on to internet explorer (and is free)
My advice - install both, and try them out for yourself. Only you can judge which one you will prefer - both are just as good as each other.

You can use both. IE is my default browser. Mozilla is enabled. You can do this setting in the Add/Remove menu in the Control Panel. Click on 'Set Access Program and Defaults' ,then click 'Custom'. Then adjust the settings. .. You need to IE as your default browser in order to get automatic updates from Microsoft... You can install other browsers too.
