I have a flat screen fujitsu tv (pretty sure plasma). i accidentally left it on w/o anything on. now its messed up (burnt?) and i have to switch videos (video 1 to video 2) repeatedly until it works. It says here http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-burn-in-on-plasma-screens that JscreenFix can fix things like logos, does anyone know if this can work with a whole screen or if there is another way to have it fixed? Also, when it works, several vertical white lines cut through the screen.
Thank You

That doesn't sound like BURN-IN if you have to repeatedly switch between Vid 1 and Vid 2 to get your picture.......

That sounds like your video Switching IC isn't switching...

Or it could be your Video Processor board isn't Processing the incoming Video...

Or it could be a loose/broken CABLE.....

QUICK CHECK :: When your TV is misbehaving, try to bring up the MENU....if it appears, it tells you the display and PART of your Video Processor is working. Any tech will try that 1st.

Next, if you have MORE than one unit attached, (DVD, game, Satellite/Cable box) turn them ALL on, and try switching between all the choices. IF ONE doesn't give you the picture, but the others do.....You may have a bad cable or bad DVD, GAME or SAT box/connector.

Lastly, if ALL work ok, but the problem still occurs after 20 minutes or longer....you could have a temperature sensitive IC in the TV that needs a TV repairman to fix....

Find the NEAREST Fujitsu Authorized TV repair Facility if that is the case....

The white lines that cut through the screen kinda indicate a bad cable or bad IC.......Wiggle the cables by picking up and shaking about 6 - 8 inches back and forth FAST...if the white lines appear, then Push all connections back in to make sure they are FULLY seated.....Don't DEATH-MASH THEM! That doesn't make it work any better...just seat them.

Try the wiggle test again, AND place your hand about 4-5 inches away from the END Connectors and ROTATE the cable in a big circle....Most Broken cables fail ON THE ENDS....If they are bad, you will see the white flashes....

You replacing cables is cheaper than me coming out to your house and running these tests.....

Good luck...hope it's a cable.....

To determine if it is plasma or LCD, tap the front of it. If it is glass, it's a plasma. If it is softer material, it is LCD.

Fujitsu primarily makes plasma units, and aren't prominent with LCD units. If I had to guess... :)

Weather you leave either LCD or plasma on with no picture isn't going to affect the picture, unless you do it really REALLY extensively. Burn-in happens when a static image is left on, not when there's nothing - so I would say burn-in wouldn't be your primary worry.

If you have to switch video to make it work, there is likely a hardware problem with your unit. You shouldn't have to switch it back and forth, and it is likely that a small circuit inside is malfunctioning.

Simply put, what you describe isn't burn-in. Burn in would be when you play a video game in an arcade, and can still see the "GAME OVER" shadow in the screen - and you have an input issue. So using that JscreenFix isn't going to do anything except "bleach" your panel, which can reduce the life of the unit - it is just un-necessary.

The vertical white lines also points to the electronics inside your unit. This is more common in plasma units than LCD, but can happen to either - just more prominent in plasma units. Your electronics aren't connected properly, and this is a manufacturing issue, and will easily fall under the warranty.

I would suggest calling Fujitsu, or allowing only a qualified technician repair it.

Good luck and happy holidays.

Well LCD wins out in the Reliability category... Plasma had better Blacks, until Sony and Mitsubishi introduced the Auto-shutter/Auto-Iris circuits this year (Man! it makes Blacks black....but shows the detail too!) So the LCD tvs with Auto Shutter beat the Plasmas hands down! BUT....the BEST TV you have NOT CONSIDERED IS...... The CRT Projection TV....(oh, they won't hook up a $800 Hitachi 51F59 Projo next to a $2500 LCD or DLP or Plasma TV--that's because salesmen make more money on the $2500 TV sets) The technology is tried and true, reliable, inexpensive AND.... the picture is NOT created using dots or squares (screen door effect) so the Horizontal resolution is NOT limited! I bought the Hitachi 51F59 because of that fact, then I hooked up a HI DEFINITION terrestrial reciever and MAN does the picture have True Hi DEF!!! Now, I'm not going to get any further into this, as I see the others have spent the time directing you to various websites, and I suggest you read it all.....but you may want to look at CRT Projection pages on those websites too.... Most Projection TVs may require one repair compared to 3 or 4 repairs in the LIFE of an LCD/Plasma TV and believe me....as a TV TECH....I don't want to be repairing my TV more than I have to....
