Doesn't it irritate you how Christmas and Easter have become so commercialized and corrupted that kids today don't even know what the holiday is about. They really think it's about a big guy in a red suit. It makes me really sad. Who else feels the same?

patchouli, I wouldn't call you a holy roller. I honestly don't know if being a holy roller is necessarily a bad thing. I think what you're saying is good

I FEEL THE SAME !

It truly is a sad thing, and whats even worse is that they are taking away Christmas and replacing it with Happy Holiday.

What happened to Christ ? The general public say they are offended with saying
Merry CHRISTmas and want to take Christ right out of the way like they did with school prayer.

Its a sad day we live in and according to the Bible its only going to get worse...

Us Christians need to stick up for what we believe in. Our country was built on Religious freedom and they are trying to take that away.

no, it bothers me that most Christians don't know what it is about, the commercialization and guy in a big red suit are appropriate for what the origins of Christmas truly are- it bothers me that atheists know more about the holidays Christians observe than the Christians do- it bothers me that Christians have been so decieved and continue to choose to be deceived regarding the feasts that God gave to commemorate the life and purpose of Jesus.
Doesn't it seem odd to oyu that all of the so called Christian holidays degenerate more and more and Christians complain that they are being tampered with and tainted by the world (you cannot touch something dirty with clean hands and make it clean!) but truly it is only remaining what it always has been- all the while the perfect feasts, ordained and ordered by God (not for the Jews - show me that in the Bible ) the feasts that God gave to His people to give us a picture of the light and life of Christ still retain their purity and are untainted by the world- they are sanctified, set apart , true Holy Days and understanding them gives revelation , clarity and understanding like Christmas and Easter never have.
that is what bothers me- let the world have Christmas and Easter, it is theirs, it always has been- we are warned about strange fire! Why should we reject what is perfect and Holy from the mouth of God in exchange for imperfect tainted traditions of man!

I just had to add that the only people that are thumbs downed are the ones that are intelligent enough to research and find out the truth of what they are talking about and are brave enough to share it- no wonder God called us sheep, everyone blindly following the herd and closing thier ears to the truth because they could not fathom giving up the two most important celebrations of the flesh and really open up the word of God and their history books and see wehat God really said about these things! Amazing Kudos to all who are courageous enough and love God enough to truly , TRULY follow His commands and may the eyes of the rest be opened as His feasts are not legalism or bondage but freedom to walk in the truth and light of His love, freedom to go against the flow and truly follow Christ, that is my hope for all who call upon hte name of Jesus!

Hmmm ... do you really think they are about Jesus? both coincide with pagan holidays and it is believed that they were set up to help convert people to Christianity by allowing them to continue to celebrate their cherished holidays.

Easter is far closer to being about Jesus than Christmas. At least the dates seem to be correct. Where the bunny came into it I can't hazard but I know the eggs were suppose to represent fertility.

And I am totally appalled by the commercialism. Particularly Christmas. The strain it puts on people. The suffering people go through this time of year. Advertisements buy, buy, buy! It is awful!

The big guy in the red suit, and the Easter bunny is a corrupt money making business. Just as people forget who they are and where they come from, they have forgotten what Christmas is about. It`s easier to pop expensive gifts and toys in childrens hands because parents have guilt luggage they carry regarding to long working hours, divorce etc. Jesus had only Himself to give to us, why must we commecialise our love for Him?

You know, I've heard that question asked all my life. Yet, we still know the Christmas story of Jesus and we know the resurrection story of Jesus. I use to wonder the same thing, but after many years the message is stronger than ever before. PEACE!!!

my kids know what the holidays are really about. it is up to you to teach your children. you can't rely on the school or the church or books or tv or friends or relatives or anything else. it is up to you. my daughter knows christmas is about baby jesus. she says we are visiting him when we go to church and we are not holy rollers, either, just in case you were wondering.

I feel the exact same way. Jesus' birth was important. Jesus' life was important. What's even more important is His death so we can live.

JESUS is the REASON for the SEASON.

Yup-yup-yup!

It's a toss up between blaming it on Coke [for Santa] or Hallmark Cards. The rest are simply mercantile hangers-on.

LOL.

Peace be with you.
