A friend of mine, a white woman from the UK was looking to immigrate. She was in her mid 30s, had recently emerged from a a bad relationship and was recovering from a personal financial disaster (mostly due to her reckless spending on too many holidays and nights out). She has since immigrated to Australia and has found happiness since, a new partner. She says she might have committed suicide or ended up in a loony bin if she hadn't been able to get away from her old surroundings.

An acquaintance of mine, an Indian guy working here has a sister who has recently emerged from an abusive (physically, sexually and emotionally) marriage. He wanted her to visit him for a change of scene and to offer her emotional support. Her visa was denied and she has since died.

For all those opposed to immigrants, please remember, they are looking for a second chance at happiness too just like you are, regardless of their skin colour.

I totally agree that uncontrolled immigration by people (who are not really badly off in their own countries, but want to be where "the action is") is bad and must be controlled.

But, my point is against those people who are ok with themselves immigrating (10% of the Brits work abroad apparently), but are ruthless with those seeking the same chances. The U.S dosen't have a very rascist immigration policy, but Australia and some of the EU countries do.

Many people are looking for a second chance at happiness. Many are looking to move from a third world nation to a first world nation, they know that the standard of living for even a poor immigrant here is better than what they currently have.

But let them all in and this nation will become a third world nation.

As for your little vignettes. How did not getting a visa cause the Indian lady to die. And maybe the white woman would have committed suicide or gone crazy if she didn't move to Australia, then again maybe she would not have.

You are using emotional and anecdotal arguments in debating a subject that should be decided rationally and with logic.

Gosh, I feel all Christian after your tender stories.
You really are RIGHT though. Problem is, when SSSSSSOOOO many people come up at once. IT gets OLD! It may be good for them but not for us. WE do count here right? Have you ever heard the word INVAVERS. Like when people take over a country they beat up in war? That's what's happening BA BA. So lets get REAL here. For pete's sake we take in 50% or our LEGAL immigrant population as Mexican. We don't need so many more that we are no longer the majority in our own country and that their poverty stricken ways, break our country. Get REAL. This must stop.
We won't keep it on hold for too long. We want our country back.
Our migration laws are fine. Our governments' work is not. We been sold out. This has NOTHING to do with someone who needs to GET AWAY! These are serious social problems and lives will soon be lost over this. It's in the air. NOTE: Harley.
Pease, love and LEGAL migration.

Yes. you are right but,I have to tell you that they have to have social and responsible to immigrate at the same token. For U.S. we have to pay for the Health care for undocumented workers and 25 billion dollars so far while 45 millions of American has no Health care. Tell me if you want to immigrate prepare and remember nothing is free. It is unfair if you suck the system and run away for your own mistake.I can say as immigrant 32 years ago and I pay my due.You feel free to check my record.Life is short and I give more than I get.

Immigration into the USA has legal procedures. It has nothing to do with a lousy marriage or crummy relationship. Those things are irrelevant. So is "We're just trying to feed our poor family and have a better life". That sob story don't cut it either. Come here legally or don't come at all. Period●

Heres another way It works......Its not always that bad across the border. Most are boys who want to come where the action is. I heard on the news 2 days ago, there are 1,000,000 children in U.S. going to bed hungry every night. The way things are going, the minority is becoming the majority ................................

We owe EVERYTHING to immigration....it's the illegal immigration that threatens out way of life and our LIVES. My uncle immigrated from Germany(LEGALLY)and I know what he had to go through to get his papers. I think anyone who wants to come is welcome.. as long as they want to become Americans(not Afro-Americans or Mexican-Americans or German-Americans or any prefix-Americans) and work hard to make a good life for themselves. I welcome the legals, see my 360 or My Space...Johnny Yuma

us immigration system is a fail system.
and it need big changes to attract immigrants to work legally instead of illegal .
make it easy for legal and difficult for illegals that's all.
