Mole Removal
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Most moles are no threat to your health and need not be removed.

Some, however, change over time and can lead to cancer. A mole usually is removed by shaving or cutting it from the skin. If it is large, you will need stitches. The area is frozen with an anesthetic so it doesn't hurt and is only mildy uncomfortable afterwards.

A small mole, or one that is shaved off, may require only a small bandage.

Your doctor may send a piece of the mole to the laboratory to check for cancer.

I had a mole removed from my neck about 9 yrs ago. My family doctor did it in the office by numbing it and just cutting it off with a scalpal. It didn't hurt at all.

No, it doesn't hurt. They numb it and the area around it and cut it off with a small, sharp razor (well mine did anyway). And you couldn't feel it. It's over in about 2 minutes if that. No worries! : )
