Are you assuming that the price of the locksmith is going to be high or have you called an gotten an actual price? Coat hangers damage weather stripping... replace weather stripping not cheap
Idiots with slim jims... rip apart door linkages...repair not cheap
broken windows...not cheap.
What is is worth to you to be able to get into your car and continue on with your plans?

I have a plan on my cell phone that includes roadside assistance, and some credit cards have it also. if yu don't, see if someone around you does. It's free. Or if anyone with you has AAA. Ask around, it''s pretty common. That person will have to wait for the tow truck with you though. The cell phone store in local mall is probably open for the holiday hours and they can give you the number to call if you or someone else has the plan. Good luck!

Find your local non-emergency number and call the police. They are public servants. They'll send an officer out (don't expect one for at least a couple of hours), you'll have to sign a damage waiver so you can't sue if they break something, then they'll jimmy it open. They may mess something up inside your door, but at least you won't be locked out.

best luck calling AAA or calling the local police. I locked myself out once before as well in town. Since then I got 2 spare keys i keep one on me and got one in my tool box on my truck. Spare key is always cheaper than anything else. Get one made and they actually make magnetic mount key holders for cars. Hope you have a merry chirstmas after your problem is solved.

If you have power door locks.
Grab a wire coat hanger and bend it such a way that you can slip it into the car and when you pull on it, it activates the power door locks.

Get a friend with AAA to call for you. IT's free even if they don't own the car. (I assume you don't have AAA?)
Sometimes the police will open it for you. Especially if you are in a small town...
