What information do police/highway patrole officers have access to from their vehicle? For example, when someone is pulled over can law enforcement see their prior criminal history, arrests, charges, current investigations, etc?

in Oregon, it's called LEDS. Law Enforcement Data System. I do not know how many other states this system encompasses but yes the cops can have the whole 9 yards on driving offenses, warrants and etc. Major driving offenses stay on the record for 10 years. Also, they can check for current insurance as well

They check for warrants on the vehicle, and if necessary, check for warrants on the driver and/or occupants in the vehicle.
If there are warrants, they will arrest the person with a warrant, take them to the station and do a more thorough check on the person.

Yeah they know all that. That is why there is a dispatcher sitting at the station running you driver license number. They can tell them just about anything they want to know.

they can see everything that you've been arrested for. so yes they can see your criminal history and arrests and charged and if there are any warrents out for your arrest. its all on their laptop in their car. and they can also check with the radio. tis a really cool program.

They have a nation wide computer system that will tell them your criminal past, if any. It's called NCIC...If they stop you in New York city today, and you had been arrested in LA five years ago, they'll know it.
