It could be a sign he needs to go to the vet.

Take your dog to the doctor as soon as possible! Go now if you can, even if it seems like it's not a lot

There has to be something extremely wrong with the dog's stomach or intestines for it to be spitting up blood.

My old dog began spitting up blood one night. It wasn't very much, so we decided to wait it out and see what was wrong in the morning. By the time I woke up the next morning, it'd spat up what looks like a ton of blood and it died. I felt so stupid for waiting it out.

So go now!

Take your dog to the vet. Immediately! There is nothing I can think of that makes me think that spitting up blood isn't something fairly serious. I don't want to scare you but I do want you to take the dog to the vet. Take care.

Dead in a few minutes if you don't seek medical attention for it. Spitting up implies it is coming from the stomach. Bad sign. If you dog likes to chew on things alot, and play take away, then it may be simply bleeding from the mouth and gums, which is okay. Assess the situation quickly.

He may have swallowed a pork bone or something sharp. Its a sign of internal bleeding, so you better get him to the vet - sounds like some sort of perforation. don't worry about the costs - a lot of vets will alllow you to pay for the treatment over time.

Your dog is probably hemorrhaging if its a lot of blood. It could be due to worms. If its just a little blood there might be something stuck in his mouth or throat. Check his mouth if you don't see anything or if its a lot of blood get him to a vet immediately!!!!!!!!!

Something you should take it to the vet for because I doubt it'd be easy to take care of by yourself.
