...3 kids and spent $50 on my gift. We have been together for 3 years and living together for 1 year. I understand that Christmas is for kids but after 3 years of a relationship....$50? Am I making too much out of this?

Thank you for your honest answers. I appreciate the comments about the AMOUNT of money he spends on his kids as I agree but try not to say anything. As for me, I spend more on gifts for him. Always have.

No, you are not. I have been with my boyfriend for 6 1/2 and I have never gotten a gift for that price, my gift from him when he was 20 costed more than that. However, giving gifts are supposed to be from the heart. Christmas is supposed to be about giving and not receiving. I usually try to think of how much money he is capable of spending on my gifts. So they usually range from 100-500.

I understand that you may feel a little neglected but by now I'm sure you know he loves you whether he spends $50 or $500 on you...right? And I'm sure you would probably feel bad if he spent $500 on you and only $50 on his kids, so I think its just something you have to live with. Dont worry, just have a happy holiday...after all, its the thought that counts :)

He was too broke from spending too much money on his kids. I could understand if you guys have only been together for a little while. Apparently you are a big part of his life. But after 3 years you deserve more.

Kids cost a he-- of a lot of $ with the new technology that's upon us these days. Maybe he got caught in the moment of really wanting to do well by them (w/ the latest gadgets). As a way of smoothing things over with them or compensating! You probably got caught in the crossfire of gift giving, where as he didn't mean it, or thinks you would appreciate him putting his kids first! Men are just plain stupid that way! Sometimes they need to be told "honey I would love it, if you surprised me with something like that" Drop some hints, see what happens? I don't blame you one bit, we all like to be treated #1. But at least he is not a dead beat regardless, if there not your kids, shows the kind of man he is!! Commend him for that, then if all else fails, tell him your leaving his a-- for a sugar daddy-LOL

Yes, you are making too much of this. His children should come first (although $500 seems like a lot to spend on kids - unless it includes basics like clothes). You are the live-in girl friend. Either get married and be part of the program or leave.

Yes-KIDS ARE KIDS AND ALWAYS WILL BE-don't even go there;because if you should ever make this mistake of competing for status against kids-you will always loose.Don't axe yourself in the leg, accept it,clearly he is over-compensating but if an issue should arise by you he will end up resenting you.Let it be and let time sort it's self out. It's pretty obvious that he is a caring man so in time he will make it up to you once he sees that you stood by him and just let it be.He will only love and respect you more.Have patience and faith. It's not like he ignored you-besides why put a value on sentiment-receive it as it is meant to be received-with love..peace.Riz>...

Most definately. It's the thought that counts. He probably spent that much b/c he feels guilty that maybe he isn't around them as much. (I'm assuming they don't live with him) Christmas is really for the kids. I'm going through the same thing. I just wrapped all my boyfriends kids presents and think it's crazy he bought so much, but that is his business his kids you know. Ask for something expensive on your birthday. :)

Gold digger! Get a life. His kids should be his priority. You should be happy he thinks about his kids. Maybe he should spent more time with them and he might not have to spend the money to make up for lost love.

yes your asking too much, Christmas is for the kids and it sounds like you have a real jealousy problem to me. Dont get so mad about this, be happy that he got you anything. You seem like your all about the money, whatever happened to "its the thought that counts"

I'd rather have a thoughtful, useful, pleasing 50 dollar gift than a 500 dollar piece of tat. That's the only standard you can judge it by.
(Besides, it isn't the 25th yet- maybe he has another gift, a suprise one, waiting for you...)
