experience. we don't think we have lived already, we have. we were not born grown up and parents already. we actually had lifes before we were parents and everything you are going through we went through. believe it or not, we used to be children and then teenagers. we don't tell you things to try to spoil your fun but to try to help you. you might not like the answers but they are true. thats not to say we know everything but we know a lot and most of it we learned the hard way. we want you to benefit from our mistakes so you don't have to make the same ones. if we didn't love you we wouldn't care what you do or what happens to you. i work with abused children. be thankful you have parents who care.

Are you sure they think they know everthing or are you just guessing?. No one knows everything, but fortunatly some know more than others. Im not sure how old you are but I am sure that by the time you are 18 you will definatly think you know everything and not many will get you to believe otherwise. You will then start to find out that there might be a couple of things you dont know as you join the work force and start to fend for yourself. Byt the time you reach 25 you will more then likly discover that there are a few more things to learn now that you have kids of your own. When you are 30 and just starting to realise that your parents were a lot smarter than you gave them credit for you will be wondering how they did it. At 45 you kids will be wondering the same thing you are now . At 60 youll start to let things be just because its not worth the hassle and the grand kids are better company any ways. At 80 youll sit back and know without a doubt that your parents were a lot smarter and knew everything just as you know now. Take care, take it easy, let it be they realy do know everything.

Well most in parents case its not that they think they know everything its just that alot of the things that teenagers go through believe it or not they've been there. They try to prevent their kids from making the mistakes they made instead of letting them make their own mistakes and learn from them. Although in some parents cases they do think they know everything and I really don't know why they would think that unless they are conceited.

sometimes they do know a lot more. sometimes they don't.
the age can bring experence. sometimes it just makes cranky.
often it is a power trip - combined with the fact that they the parent are responsible legally for you when perhaps they should not be. so if you (the legal child) mess up .. they carry the blame.
Childhood is way to long in the western nations.
Alexandar the great was leading armies!!! as a "teen".
there needs to be a better "sub adult" status for young people regarding money, sex, recreational drugs like beer.
you have someone who is all ready to make babies at age 14, but may not have complete common sense by that age .. we should do a better job of preparing people ..and a better job of then letting them leave the nest.

It's not that parents think they know everything. It's just they don't want you to make the same mistakes they did once in their life time. Parents seem like they think they know it all but honestly they just want what is best for their child. Good luck. I'm a parent and I don't think I know it all I just want what is best for my children and for them to understand things. One day you will have children of your own and then it will be alot easier to understand. Keep your chin up. It will get better.

Not everything. Sometimes parents just know more because they have lived longer. So listen, go think about it and if you don't believe they are right go talk to them with why you think this is wrong. Just remember sooner or later you will be a parent to and find yourself says, Darnit, mom or dad was right.

Because they have lived long enough to have been through things that younger people have not,and they wouldnt try to teach you things they know if they didnt care about you.Have you asked them if you could have a discussion instead of just getting an attitude when they think they know everything? Maybe they would explain why they feel the way they do and you could explain your side. And come to an agreement.

Because we do know everything compared to what you know. Believe it or not, one day you will realize just how knowledgeable your parents are, and that day is not as far off as you think.

from my experience, i have found that they just want you to think they know everything... sort of like a role model type of thing. They like to try and do what best for you, and i personally think its better than parents that don't care at all... i hope this helps a little

Parents don't know everything,But you can be sure that they do know more than you do.They know enough to tell you right from wrong. Then if they didn't tell you anything, you could blame them for that too.Don't look at it as them knowing everything, look at it as Parents telling you what you need to know, and telling you right from wrong.Your job is to listen and do.
