Couples renew vows for a variety of reasons.
Sometimes they've been through a rough patch & want to reaffirm their love.
Sometimes there's been an indiscretion and they want to make a new start.
Some couples feel it is important to them to reaffirm their vows when reaching a particular milestone such as the 10 year or 25 year anniversary.
And some couple renew their vows EVERY year.

So if this is something you really want to do, do it. It never hurts to remake that commitment.

As long as the couple are renewing their vows for the right reasons, it's wonderful. Too many people renew their vows because they never had a big, formal wedding with all the trimmings. A renewal is not a gift giving event or a second wedding.

I think renewing your vows is sweet, and if you do it you should do it after being married for like 20 years or more. It can help to give the marriage a little boost again.

Since we got married in a courthouse we're thinking of renewing our vows on our tenth or fiftieth anniversary just to have a little ceremony. I think it's a wonderful idea.

I think it's absurd. The whole thing is a front for throwing a big party with yourself as the star (eeeew). How embarrassing!

"Renewing" broken vows in public is MORE than embarrassing...it's humiliating!

I think it is so romantic and spiritual. My grandparents were going to do that for their 53rd wedding anniversary we were going to have the affair at my parents house. Sadly my grandfather died the day before the wedding.

Not necessary, unless your vows were broken.
