Assume you came from another planet, or lived somewhere where you never heared of the bible, the koran or any holy book. Would you have any trouble with the theory of evolution? What would your objections be?
___ I am just trying to find out if there are any reasons(other than religious reasons)that make some people object to evolution.Do they really find the theory 'illogical'? or is it a matter of pride(me son of ape? noooo!) or a matter of knowing false or incomplete information about the theory?.____
Thanks for sharing your opinion. And please stick to the subject of the question (stating your specific objections to that specific theory) and dont turn it to a Science VS Faith diatribe. Thanks.

its kinda simple.

people who usually object to evolution do object because it doesent conform with their beleif system. peopel are born into and raised in their religions...if nothing bad happens to them they will most likely stay in that religion and perpetuate it...eventually passing it down to their children.

now here comes evolution with its logic and evidence. they cant deny the logic (most dont even understand it) but since they dont understand it or know anything about it they refuse to beleive it. they beleive in the story of creation, its all they know. then science comes around and says something else? no way! theyve already invested their faith into christianity/creationism...theyre "faithful" to it.

and since most people think pretty simply they categorioze it into 2 things: black & white, right and wrong, left and right, good and bad, what i beleive and what i dont beleive.

they see evolution as the other half of their beleif (creationism) so they will naturally not beleive it. even if it was explained to them they stil lwouldnt beleive it.

ah but times are changing. they realise that science is gaining alot of ground....so what do they do? they try to uise sciecne to validate their beleifs. its called Intelligent Design...basically they try to find bits of science that proves their claims correct...the propblem is is that they have a very sketchy image and no corroberation between the academies of science....but thats another story.

so yeah...most dont beleive i nevolution because its the basic polar opposite fo their beleif system. and the only reason they ARE willing to beleive in it is if its somehow comtrolled by that beleif system (e.g. god)

psychology is fun!

All evolutionary theory is not created equal.

Micro-evolution, or the theory of adaptation is not really disputed. This is the idea that the members of a species which have the traits to which their environment is most favorable are more likely to live long enough to pass on those traits to their offspring. This theory does not involve any genetic mutations.

Macro-evelution, also known as Darwinian Evolution is the subject of the Controversy. Though still taught in classrooms this theory has no modern scientific basis. Darwin himself first said that he expected later Fossil Evidence to prove his Theory (which it still has not to this day) and later denounced his own Theory.

In the 19th century, macro-evolution was a sound Hypothesis because at the time scientists believed the Universe to be eternal (no beginning or end) excluding the need for a creator. 20th century science however proved that the Universe had a beginning. Since nothing spontaneously appears, the Universe must have either been created or resulted from something that happened outside of the Universe itself.

The idea that Humans evolved over billions of years from one celled creatures to animals and then into humanshas been disproved as well. Scientists now know that many species of animals appeared in a short period of time (no more than 100 years) in what is known as the Cambrian explosion. Before the Cambrian explosion there were no boned animals of any kind. After the explosion there were boned fish, birds, amphibians and possibly some small mammals.

It is almost mathematically impossible that life came to be spontaneously. The chances that all of the elements of life came together in the right order is 1:5,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. This indicates that the elements must have set up that way.

For example, If I took 5 dice and bet you that I could roll all sixes 7 times in a row you would take that bet because such a feat is virtually impossible. But suppose I did win the bet. Would you hand the money over or would you suspect that I had rigged the game? My chances of winning that bet are about 100 times better than that of life being created by chance.

Thundergnome:
Christians have never believed that the Earth was Flat. That idea was disproven by the Greeks prior to Jesus birth and was known to early Christians because they lived under the rule of the Roman Empire.

Excellent question. I am glad to see a sincere, open question.

If the people on Mars were told every fact, I emphasize this word, I do think they would find it illogical.
Evolution as a theory started humble as an attempt to understand how life started and sustains, but, in my opinion, it has become a dogma/strict belief that does not want to be let go of. (but I don't want to talk about hat now)

If the Martians (marsians?) were told that life started by a chemical soup or energy, I would assume, if they were intelligent, they would ask good questions.
Such as,
"Where did these chemicals come from? How did they come together? What made the chemicals come together?":
Other things they would not know about, but are still good points would be:
evil- people do terrible things, no?
communication- making of languages
intelligence
ability to be meaningful
emotions and all good things (love, hope, joy, forgiveness etc.)
all the laws of physics
info in DNA
complexity of creatures/systems

You mentioned man to ape.
There are SERIOUS problems with this. Humans have the ability to communicate meaningfully. Humans, contrary to some people's beliefs, are NOT simply instinct as the monkeys were. Humans have a soul. Monkeys do not.
And this is just the beginning.
The mutation selection theory (or Neo-Darwinism) states that humans came from monkeys through mutations, which is called macro evolution (the change of species because of surroundings [there are other factors but I don't remember them] ). Two major problems with this, which is why evolution would seem illogical to martians:
no transitional fossils
no observed good mutations in history (the fruit fly is not a sign of good mutations)

In conclusion, it is "a matter of knowing false or incomplete information about the theory?.____" The martians would find the theory of evolution illogical if they were told every fact and then presented the theory of evolution in an unbiased way.

my questions should answer yours. How can anyone wholeheartedly believe anything written in a book by a bunch of people who thought the world was flat? Did you know that the "missing link" in the evolution theory has been found? Skeletal remains of little people known as "hobbits" have been discovered on a small island off the coast of Australia. These remains are further evidence to support the evolution theory. So where is Noah's Ark? Where did this "flood" take place? Personally, I think the Bible is either a bunch of stories written to explain our existence, or possibly the biggest hoax of all time. Even though "The DaVinci Code" is just a "what if" story, it is COMPLETELY possible for Jesus to have been "just a man". It is completely possible for us to have started our life history as a single-celled organism in the ocean, and evolve from there. The evidence is there; all we have to do is look at it.

With no Holy book, evolution is the only way to explain life.
One thing that I always wondered. Is Evolution the mechanism of Creation? Which would be easier to explain the development of life over millions of years, or BAM BAM BAM over the span of a week? Some uneducated shepard isnt going to know a thousand from a billion.
Besides Theologins say thay the world and its life is more than 10-15 thousand years. So where did all the dino-bones come from? Fish fossils before the dinosaurs? Where?

Evolution what a Joke. If man came from ape and ape still exist, then why is the process over. Come on!. I firmly believe that Man can never fathom the greatness of God the creator of heaven and earth.
God is a Spirit and when he spoke the word let there be and there was. Those evolutionist had to come up with a theory that would satisfy those who are deceived.
Every living thing on earth reveals the awesome God i serve. Even today man still trying to clone man there must be a God somewhere

i'm not an atheist. yet i understand the very truth when I pay interest it. You for sure are ignorant of physics and astronomy. bypass again to varsity. study and study. Therein you'll detect the answer. good right that is a contact, gravity and friction are in contact. it extremely is not any further with out delay referring to to evolution diverse than with the help of condition. that's believed with the help of evolutionists that creatures optimal more beneficial healthful for his or her ecosystem are more beneficial efficient than diverse creatures. The moon impacts the ambience. the similar element that motives this result has "locked" the moon in a cycle with the Earth. Edit: i will say it again. The Moon's gravitational interaction with the Earth impacts the Earth's ecosystem. that's the position creatures interior the global stay. Tides are a good element of procedures some creatures stay. those creatures artwork which includes diverse creatures. with out the moon's gravitional interaction with the Earth, environmental circumstances may be thoroughly different. hence the creatures may also be thoroughly different. with connection with the moon's rotation, one does not reason the diverse. They really percentage a mutual set of circumstances which result both.

You don't have to believe any specific way for you to consider evolution a silly theory. First of all, there is NO concrete evidence to support it. It has been around for years and yet, nothing has been substantiated. But perhaps the biggest upset of all for the evolution theory is that nothing has evolved since humans came into existance. Thus, the theory was doomed from the beginning.

Darwin had to start somewhere though. And we must give him a "A" for his efforts and attempts in explaining the origins of mankind....unfortunately....it was just "monkeying around".

There is no othe rreason to doubt evolution. Religious blinders keep people from allowing any other thought into their heards that whatever is written in their religious texts.
But people seem to focus on the wrong things, and ignore a whole lot of the othe rthings in the bible that they don't believe. There's a lot of crazy nonsense in there that no one really believes anymore, but for some reason, they just can't let the six-day creation myth go.

I believe life evolves, just not in the way Darwin supposed. Are there any theories you are particularly fond of? Evolution is such a vague term.

the best religious of questions i have heard ALL night! and the answer..... i have no clue. theory- coming from another planet in space, my thoughts would be like campfire stories. "i come from somewhere." and the idea of evolution of earth would make me curious as to if that is how my species came to be. but that would question my own beliefs of how i would have come about.
