saw the TV special of National Geographic and found it extremely interesting. There is no doubt that the scrolls are from that time due to carbon dating. What are the truths that could make it so? Judas was Jesus favorite. Judas held the money they had and came from a rich family so the money he was paid would not have been that important to him, What are the possibilities? The early church wanted to hide this so as to get more converts, They deliberately threw mud on Mary M's name and she was the one Jesus revealed Himself to after his crucifixition. We will never know and frankly it is enough to accept the ethics He has given us as they are as good today as they were then. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night

Why not? The bible wasn't put into its present form until about 400 years after Jesus's death. It wasn't even agreed that Jesus was the "son of god" until 300 years after he died. Basically, they had the stories and books that they knew of, put them together at the Council of Nicea in the order they thought would be most condusive to a religion, and ignored the books they didn't think fit their chosen theology at the time.
Some books that may have made it in were not even known of at the time - Gospel of Judas. And who knows - with all the of the different stories depending on which apostles followers wrote them - which ones were even true, if any? How can we prove that Judas's gospel isn't more correct than Mark's?
It's all conjecture, and no one realistically has any idea what Jesus ever taught or did.

The Gospel of Judas isn't valid because it was written long after Judas died, so it obviously is a false document written to stir up controversy or trouble, start something new, or sabatoge Christianity as we know it.
As for Judas having forgiveness, well honestly he COULD have been forgiven if he actually came to God and repented, but he didn't. He just killed himself, and that's not the same as asking God to forgive you. Plus, even if though he seemed to be sorry about what he had done, it may not have been actual guilt he was feeling. It might have just been fear of punishment. Real guilt is true remorse over wrong-doing and comes from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit would not have led him to commit suicide, but would have led him instead to come back to God, ask for forgiveness, and continue being a disciple appointed to spread the Gospel.
Remember Peter? he denied knowing Jesus 3 times, but he truly came to God and repented and was forgiven and is now considered one of the greatest saints by many.

Last I heard, the Gospel of Judas was written several hundred years after the death of Christ (and Judas). Was Judas forgiven though? There is no way to know for sure, but I believe it is possible. I believe that suicide is an instant ticket to hell, and he acknowledged that what he did was wrong.

The priest was a fool. I'm shocked a Catholic priest couldn't understand the ambiguity given in the Bible or in his own tradition.

the bible is carefully constructed, anything that may offer the thought that questioning authority is not allowed. it has been re-written and edited more than any other book in history.
many of the ancient scrools are discounted by the church because they would expose 1500 years worth of lies.
