Did you ever get sent to your room when you were little? How did you know when you could come out?

What did your parents say? What would they do if you were mad at them and mean to them then? I was just wondering. I never got into any trouble.

You never got into any trouble?! Lucky!!!
I got spanked, had privledges taken away, and was sent to my room when I was little. My mom even says that I was usually a really good girl, its just what my parents did.
When I was sent to my room, it was usually in a fuming mess. My parents would come head-on with "Go to your room", or they could be more indirect with "Oh, you don't want to eat your broccolli? How about you stay in your room long enough to think about that?" (and then make me stay in my room before I came out willing to eat the icky stuff). Sometimes if it was my mom who sent me, and my dad wasn't there at the time, then my dad would often sympathize with me in my room when he got home and tell my mom I was ready to come out. Sometimes, my mom would come up about half an hour later and just say "Well, I'm sorry that I sent you to room, but___(and then say what she didn't like about what I did). Then we'd kiss and make up. Often, when the decision to let me out was mutual by my parents, they'd just shout up "You can come out now" from the dinner table (That's where I usually got in trouble from).
As for spankings, those were saved for when I would talk back big time or was just openly defiant. If I talked back to my mom, she might say "Bend over." and I'd have to bend over to be spanked. (usually with my pants up unless I was really bad; otherwise it stings a lot more). If my mom wanted me to stop doing something (say, get off the couch), she'd say. "Please get off the couch. (no response). Get off of the couch now. (no response) One... Two... Three!" (Spanking time!!)
Luckily spankings only lasted until probably the fifth grade!!

I don't know. I never did, but I always thought it was pretty funny when my friends' parents would do that to my friends. "And you, young lady can just go to your room." Why? That's where all the good stuff is, that you get to play with, in your room! How is that a punishment?
