It depends on whether you want to work for a large or small department; my department is a small one, and doesnt have the budget to put people through BLET. There is a BLET program at the local community college, both a day school and a night one. Lots of people put themselves through the course, then apply with departments afterward. The larger departments, like Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, have their own training academies and programs, tailored specifically for their departments.

That is an easy question just say you are corrupt and you will every police dept in the country calling you offering you a job. Become a fire fighter they are the good ones

apply for police departments and once you get accepted they will send you to the police academy to train. if you go to the police academy first sometimes they will wonder why you went to the academy first isntead of applying.
