should my Pomeranian get get her first menstrual cycle she is 13 months and hasn't had one. Just a little concerned about this.

Some dogs will not get their first heat cycle until they are 18-24 months old, especially the small breeds. Also, some dogs will have a silent heat (is fairly common), where they go threw all of the hormonal changes of the cycle, but doesn't bleed or show any other obvious signs of a heat (sometimes they will act a little different, but not always). So, it is very possible that she has had a silent heat and it just went unnoticed.

They have heat cycles, not menstrual cycles. Some dogs do not have their first one until after a year old. One of my dogs was 20 mo before she had her first one. I have a chihuahua who is the same age as yours and has not had her first cycle yet. Nothing to worry about.

all dogs come into their first heat at different times, if you would like more information look up breeding your pet this will give you different websites to go to , to look up and give you a little more information about your dogs cycle , and maybe put your mind at ease..

anytime now! usually small dogs come in the first time at 6 - 8 months. large dogs take longer.

Your dog should be spayed and then there would be nothing to worry about.
