If all you ever read is the New Testament and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that He died for your sins, then you will without a doubt be saved. But know this, Jesus often quoted from the O.T. (more form Deuteronomy than any other book) and the original language (Greek, Aramaic) would suggest that He quoted it as fact.
Whenever Jesus talked about Noah's flood, it was always spoken of as an event that actually took place. The same goes for Sodom and Gomorrah, and all the other O.T. stories spoken of by Christ. To say that these are "myths and stories made up by the Jews" is to call our Lord a liar.
Don't neglect the O.T. scriptures, if you are a believer than they are in fact YOUR roots. Remember Paul said that the gentiles have been grafted in to the original Branch (Judaism). The best way I can explain this is that, Christianity is the tree Judaism was destined to become, and Judaism is the roots from which Christianity grew.
I'm sure allot of Orthodox Jews will not like this statement but the Bible clearly states it. Once you realize who Jesus is, you will be able to see types and pictures of Him all through out the O.T. Hope this is helpful.
God Bless!

Christianity is rooted in Judaism. The Jews are still God's chosen people, and those who believe in Christ are included only by the mercy and grace of God. The old testament and it's prophecies point to the arrival of the Messiah. The only difference is that the Jews are still waiting for Him, while Christians believe that Jesus is the Messiah.

Jesus was Jewish so a lot of his teachings were rooted in Judaism and he followed Jewish customs. Jesus frequently cites the Old Testament. Jesus is believed by Christians to be the fulfillment of the covenant made by God with the Jewish king David. Jesus was sent to Earth because of God's covenant with the Jews. To understand Jesus, one must have a relative understanding of the Old Testament.

Hey Lee-
Jesus quoted from the Old Testament quite a lot .It did not become obsolete when the New Testament was written.
We need to consider the full council of God- the whole bible.
I would suggest reading and studying the bible for yourself.

Because Jesus Christ is the fufillment of the O.T. prophecies
The New Testament is concealed in the Old, and the Old is reaveled in the New.

So your logic is something like: "stuff made up by jews is old myths. stuff made up by christians (or jesus, who was a jew) is the truth".

Really...

I've never seen so much bad spelling as on these forums.

That being said, the bible is not myth, any of it. It is the inspired word of God.
