Could this be an exercise I could use and tell me what part it would exercise?

Hold a dumbbell in each hand next to eachother vertically and about 3 inches in front of the abdomen, and you bring them back like you're elbowing someone behind you. Then you return it to starting position, and repeat. If you have a question, please ask me.

That will be working the posterior deltoid and the latissimus dorsi (shoulder extensors).

Sounds like it's for the obliques. You are rotating your torso, and working the muscles on the side of the abs.
