If the Dalai Lama is Buddhist, does he believe in eternal Heaven?

I am just starting to study about Buddhism but I believe the idea is that it isn't necessarily about "heaven." The belief is in reincarnation until you reach the point of enlightenment (correct term?). You live your life and how you live your life depends on what you are reincarnated as. If you are a bad human, then you could return as a worse off human or even an animal. If you lead your life through good deeds and humanity, you will be reincarnated as a better off human.

This is pretty much Karma (have you watched the TV show "What about Earl"). The whole show is based on his idea of Karma and how he's done all these bad things and brought upon himself a bad life. He is bound and determined to make up for those bad deeds with a list of things he needs to "repair."

Eventually after you have lived your lives and found the true meaning of life (correct me if I'm wrong) you have found enlightenment and that in a sense is heaven.

I just started attending a Buddist Meditation session and have just started to learn some of this stuff. Sorry if it isn't exactly correct.

He would probably tell you that he does not know if there is a heaven
