The Australian War Memorial has a brilliant data base and can locate most formerly registered serviceman from Australia. If no luck there, if you are travelling through Canberra, the staff can assist you in your search.

To be classed as Victorian, you would have had to be born before 1901, which was when Victoria died. Serving in the 1st World war would not have been a problem, but 2nd World war would be pushing it.

How old is this ancestor? If he is victorian, there is no way he served in either of the world wars, as he would be far to elderly.

A Victorian ancestor would not have been in WWI and WWII.

The Victorian era ended in 1901 when Queen Victoria died
