So many atheists here are constantly trying to make Christians look stupid, or to convince us all that Jesus is a myth and that religion is hocus-pocus. Could this stem from unconscious urges from the id to be close to God, resulting in a conflict with the super-ego, or could some be agnostics in search of an argument that may change their minds? Just wondering.

i think so. their actions give them away as closet christians. they try to prove or "educate" the non existence of God (if that is possible) become insulted when mentioned they are going to an "imaginary" place called hell, spend all day attacking and insulting God and christians. those actions are those of someone who wants attention and is actually searching for acceptance and acknowledges there is a possibility of a God. i just dont see what all the fuss is about if they believe there is no god. why all the mean spirited behavior?

you cant prove that your religion is the right one
every religion centrals around one main idea (Hence the bible for cristians, and catholics, ect) but you cant prove that other religions are wrong. you just dont know. Muslim religion has been aroud for a long time but how do u know thay worship the wrong thing or beliefs.By sayin that you have the right religion is like saying that all the religions that have been around just as long are wrong. There are no facts proving you are right or wrong. Even scientology , Even though it is well crazy in theory, cant be proven wrong because there are no facts behind it. I am not sayin that religion is bad. But when a group of people say that thiers just happens to be the right one kind of annoys me. plus did you know that 98% of people htta belong to a religion belong to it because thats how htey were brung up. They never got to choose what to believe or who to believe in. They just did becaus they had to and eventually after awile shut all other religions from thier mind. I personally think that evolution makes more sense that believing in something that cannot be proven wheras evolution can be proven in a sense. What i am tryin to get at is you have to believe what you want instead of being told what to believe. If you truly belive that everything in christianity is right than totlayy go ahaead with it. I dont affect me. I dont think that a god or religion can be totally proven or disproven. so take stuff from all religions and believe what you think is right not what everyone tells you is right.

"Closeted Christian?" That's a new term...anyway, I doubt there are many. The term "closeted" implies that they are hiding their religious beliefs from themselves and, mostly, from others. In America, a country where Christianity holds the majority with 76 percent of the population being admitted believers, I see no reason for a person to "hide" their Christian beliefs.

I think many people may be treating Christians like that since Christians make themsleves out to be "perfect". I believe that each and everyone of us are born with something in us that makes us know that some kind of higher power is out there-put any name on it that you want. Spirit Guide, God, ect. If atheists are stating that they do not believe in God-it could be that they don't see any kind, loving acts of God, while Christians believe in God-they don't have to see God to know He is there and Christians believe Christ died on the cross for our sins. . I would say that 5-10% of atheists are closet Christians.

Theres both (Athiests posing as Christians, Christians posing as atheists), but its much easier to ignore both. Some sound incredibly stupid and ignorant, but this could be due to any number of things (Could be a child, ignorance of a subject, etc.)

Just dont post a response and stay out of the argument, and if you do have to post a response, answer maturely and truthfully to avoid conflict.

I myself used to be a Christian, but am now an Atheist. Being honest and true with myself makes things alot easier, I dont have any hidden feelings of wanting to believe in God or anything.

It's more of pointing out how the bible is absurd and wondering how someone could actually believe the stuff in the bible. The Qur'an (Koran) is just as absurd and other religious texts

45:7 Woe unto each sinful liar, 45:8 Who heareth the revelations of Allah recited unto him, and then continueth in pride as though he heard them not. Give him tidings of a painful doom. (Koran)

Absurd, I Know

Short answer: No. :)

Long answer: Atheists do not believe in a deity. *Some* atheists (and *some* other non-Christians) like to make people feel stupid because they don't have lives. If there's some kind of internal conflict/stirring that causes this behavior, then they are not true atheists.

If someone was a closet Christian pretending to be an atheist, that is just a really sad and disturbed individual. Any real atheist is no where near being a closet Christian. Maybe wishful thinking on your part...

How many Christians are closet atheists?

No, it comes from fear of christians, who hurt non-christians. Maybe if we make a few realize that, there will be a few less.
