Why do muslims consider women inferior--did Mohammed instruct them to, or is it the Mullahs?

In the Koran, women are spoken of like property of the man. Like cattle. Scary, but true.

Islam clearly teaches that a woman is a full-person under the law, and is the spiritual equal of a male. Also, according to Islamic Law, women have the right to own property, operate a business and receive equal pay for equal work. Women are allowed total control of their wealth, they cannot be married against their will and they are allowed to keep their own name when married. Additionally, they have the right to inherit property and to have their marriage dissolved in the case of neglect or mistreatment. Also, Islam does not consider woman an "evil temptress", and thus does not blame woman for the "original sin". Women in Islam participate in all forms of worship that men participate in. Actually, the rights that Islam gave to women over 1400 years ago were almost unheard of in the West until the 1900s. Less than fifty years ago in England and America, a woman could not buy a house or car without the co-signature of her father or husband!

Islam is winning Western women admirers despite hostile media coverage It is even more ironic that most British converts should be women, given the widespread view in the west that Islam treats women poorly. In the United States, women converts outnumber men by four to one, and in Britain make up the bulk of the estimated 10, 000 to 20, 000 converts, forming part of a Muslim community of 1 to 1.5 million.



Prophet Muhammad told Muslim men, "the best among you is the one who is best to his family." Not Islam, but some Muslim men, do oppress women today. This is because of their cultural habits or their ignorance about their religion.

Actually it was the mullahs instructed based on "their" interpertation of the Quran.. During those days in Arabia, wearing a veil is a common culture, it is not oppression.. Even most women belonging to jewish tribes before Muhammad came to medinah veiled themselves.. ... It is a common practice among religious women in Arabia during those days, except for the a pagan arabs. It is only seems alien to today's modern world....

There is no such thing as men inferior than women in Islam. Actually Islam is the first way of life and Civilizations that allows women to have inheritance of their fathers property or land. In Islam, the men is responsible for all financial support of the family. if a women works in a family, she doesn't need to share her salary with her family . She can keep it for herself. There is no force for her to sponsor her family. That proves that Islam makes women like the total queen of the family.

But if you're a muslim man, you're responsible for everything in your family. A muslim man is also responsible to make sure that he gives sexual satisfaction to his wife. :-) If he doesn't, her wife has a right to ask for a divorce. If a husband abuses her wife , The wife has the right to ask for a "Fasakh" or in english, an automatic divorce. That's how it was in Arabia during those days.

The problem with today's world is, many Mullah's or people who control the Syariah court in muslim countries are bunch of Sexist. That's why muslim women can get such freedom in muslims country today.

If you want to have a clar idea how muslim women should be treated, read the Quran and hadith for yourself with a clear mind and naturally without any disturbance and manipulation from Christian evangelists . that's my advice. these people will quote one verse of the chapter from the quran but they are very ignorant and bigoted to read the whole chapter. Sorry, The QUran is not like the bible where you can take one verse of a chapter and suit your purpose while the other parts of one chapter in the bible you neglect.....
