I meditate in any time or place that is relatively still, or when I feel drawn to. I great way is to practice a basic relaxation, by tensing your entire body as tight as you can for as long as you can. Then release the tension starting at your head and gradually work your way down to your toes. It feels wonderful. Incorperate breathing, just by focusing on your own breath, feeling your chest rise and fall. This will help you still your mind appropriately.
You can choose a topic for your meditation, or a piece of appropriate music to contemplate, and just gently keep your mind on it. Don't force yourself, and don't expect it to work perfectly the first time. It takes practice.
Position your body however you like it, just make sure it is comfortable and that you won't fall asleep while your meditating. Otherwise, just explore it and learn what works best for you;

I lit a few candles in the room (make sure not to have too many in one spot, keep it balanced)
I light my favorite incense (mines dragons blood, but i havent ventured out too far with incense)
Close all curtains, turn off all lights, air conditioning or heating, computers and tv completely off (i hate the sound... u hear everything when u meditate) and make everything completely quiet.
Dont really think up words while meditating, just use a control breathing pattern, sit up straight, and have ur hands at a relaxed pattern.
let your body balance its energies for a few minutes. be sure not to jump up after meditation. it can leave u somewhat open. let your end of meditation be very slow and calming, maybe have a little routine, closing the circuits.

andre, one should meditate on God within your own heart. It is best to have the blessings of a Saint with the power to give shaktipat. Read "meditation" by Swami Muktananda See syda.org/theguru Swami Chidvilasananda she has meditation centers all over the world, and she has the power of God to give shaktipat.(baptize with spirit).

Simply keep my awareness in the NOW moment. When it drifts to the past or future, try to delete that thought (like a pop-up).
