My dtr will be two this week and 22 pounds. She eats everything and anything. She is active although clumsy she was a late walker. I also think she might have low muscle tone. I am taking her to her check up this week. Do you reccomend i speak to the MD about her weight issue and a possible supplement. I was also thinking of Physical therapy because she falls often and many times walks on her tippy toes .

My son is 3 years and 5 months and weighs 29 lbs! He is healthy and has always been on the low weight side. Although the dr's dont worry because he has followed his own growth patern since birth. Ask your doctor they can adress your concerns and explain what may or may not be going on with your daughter. Sometime this is just normal. As far as muscle tone just ask MD that is what they are there for. Good luck as long as baby seems otherwise healthy you should be good to go untill your appt!

Your daughter may not need physical therapy, I think all children at that age do a lot of falling. As far as her weight, that may be an issue, my daughter is 17 months old and is 24 lbs, when she was 13 months she only weighed 19 lbs and she was considered underweight, I started to give her Pediasure, with the consent of her doctor and she has been doing well. She sounds normal, but when you sit down with her doctor bring up your concerns.

My 3 year old weighs in at 27 lbs........I to was concerned about her weight. She is active and very clumsy as well. I talked to her doctor about it and said not to worry that kids will grow at their own rate. I to this day still feel that shes tiny for her age(she will be 4 in Feb). I asked about supplements and said its not a good idea, for the simple fact that it could put her body on over load. And you know whats funny, my daughter also walks on her tippy toes, I thought I was the only one that had a kid who did that lol. She will eventually grow out of the clumsy stage. Good luck.

If you ever have any questions about your childs health never hesitate to ask a dr! Thats what they are for, and no question in your mind should go unanswerd for any reason when it comes to your child! Ya know if she was a late walker she may not have as much muscle as a child whos been walking longer, obviously because more walking, jumping, running = more muscle, right? My daughter just turned 2, started walking at 9 mo, and now does ballet! She has great ballence, but shes been walking for almost a year and a half! All kids are diff.

If you're really concerned then yes talk to the doc about it. Honestly though she sound normal to me. My youngest is 2 & a half & only weighs 28 lbs. My 4 yr old is 33lbs. Maybe your daughter is just meant to be small. I know that's the cause with my 4 yr old, she eats like a horse & is perfectly healthy just small. I would be more concerned with the falling & walking on tippy toes though.

I think if you're really worried then talk to your doctor but keep in mind that each child is different. My daughter is 18 months and weighs 26 lbs. However she's the tallest kid in her daycare class even though she's the youngest and isn't pudgy in the least. In fact her doctor is a little concerned because she doesn't seem to be height weight proportional (ie she's so tall and too skinny for her height). If you or your husband are naturally skinny then it just might be genetic. I know my daughters father is 6 foot 6 inches and eats like a horse but has all his ribs and bones poking out and it's looking like our daughter is taking after him. Good luck with your daughter!

sure, I would talk to her MD, my 2 yr old daughter weighs 26 pounds, she walked early and is really tall, her doc said she was perfectly fit, not too fat, but the doc might tell you top have her eat more fruits for snacks, and you do have to teach her good eating habits, they also have pediasure that is a great over the counter supplement for little ones :) Babies will figure out the walking on her own but again if it concerns you then definitely talk to the doc about it :)

She sounds perfectly normal - if you are worried talk to your doctor of course, but she fits into normal weight range for her age and 2 year olds tend to be clumsy and walk on their toes.
