brought this wine home from a family member's house; put it in the fridge with intentions to drink it; forgot about it; haven't opened it yet--is it still good to drink? I know unchilled bottles last for ages, but what about chilled?

Wine lasts a very long time. If you put it back remember to use the cork and place it on it's side. As long as the cork is wet with the wine it will stay good. That's what keeps it sealed. If you leave it standing up, the cork will dry out, the bottle won't be sealed and it will turn.

You store a red wine in the fridge for 4-6 weeks. White wine is the best to keep in the fridge. When storing any wine be sure to lay the bottle at angle with the cork pointing tio the ground. This will stop the cork from drying out and easier to open.

If it was white wine, then there should be no problem as long as it is unopened in any way. With red wine, it is a different story. The cold makes it break down faster into vinegar so, be careful when you open it . Smell it first and if it is sour, throw it out.

The average temperature in the fridge is between 4 to 6 deg C.Exposing the wine at such low temperature will spoil its flavour, body and sometime tast.
Wine should be kept preferably at room temperature or between 20 to 25 deg C and served chill.

Yes its perfectly fine. Some people like chilled wine and even if it were open it would be ok. Wine tastes better with age. I bartended and we left open bottles in the fridge all the time.

Chilled bottles last as long, if not longer, they just won't age the same way. So drink up and enjoy or leave it in there for a year...it will be fine (especially if its a white).

yes, it is still good. If you opened the bottle, the alcohol would have evaporated out of it, so, noone would get that nice warm glow, lol, but, fear not, it is fine. Enjoy it and have a very happy holiday my friend! - Lauren

Unopened and not exposed to light... should last years (depending on grape varietal)!!! Red - allow it to warm a bit first... white - pop cork and enjoy!
