What I have learned is that babies till about 10 y/o can "see" or hear things that we as adults can't and that is because they are open and perceptive to "the other planes" I don't mean to sound freaky but I believe it we as adults get so close minded that we shut out all the other things that go on around us
I would reassure her everything is OK, unless she is scared or getting hurt by them ( emotionally or mentally) and maybe explain to her that they are ppl who are not so much concerned with her and just let them be
To be honest I still fell like there is someone around me everyday and I might see a glimpse of them but they never talk to me, lol ok so now that I sound nutty
hope it helps

If she has watched any "horror" flicks on t.v. lately this could be the cause. Maybe someone at school has been telling stories that have her thinking about stuff. If you have recently moved into a new house or had an addition or something added to your exsting house, it could be that new sounds in a new house or the addition settling in.(New construction will creak and moan for a time) If none of the above applies I would consider a child psychologist.(I don't believe in ghosts, but that doesn't mean they don't exist because I never saw any) or someone in the paranormal fields if you feel strange all of a sudden too. Could also be she looking for additional attention lately?? NOW I'M CURIOUS !!

Get a stethoscope and play a few games of "find the sound" Listen to various appliances...refrigerators make lots of weird noises! Track down creaks and groans. Do not lead you child to consider these sounds to be from a living source. If you do that you will just set her up for a lifetime of insecurity.
PS. The internet can also be used to further your education. Many great schools now offer free classes on line...try some!

first find out if it is only in the house or all the time like at school etc. then find out when it started and if she feels scared about it. noises in a house are easily explainable though when there are fewer people in it that makes noises seem scarier. noises can come from the house settling, construction integrety, outside, animals under the house or in the walls etc. i would be more conserned about finding out if there is really someone else in the house . if you are a religious family i would sugest seeing your pastor or priest about it, this could put to rest any fears she may have and they are pretty experienced in dealing with the paranormal if that is what this is. i would not by any means make a big deal out of it as this may add to her fears. if this happens outside of home as well, i might suggest a counselor to address any issues she may be having like seperation anxiety if you are recently seperated etc. i have 9 kids and believe me, they all have active imaginations so we have alot of invisible people around here lol

It is very possible that they are spirits. Get a recoder and some kind of video camera and set them up in the room you hear the noises the most. I have been to haunted places, and we pick up stuff that we couldn't hear at the time, but it comes up on tape. So do the images that noone saw. Also, check to see if anyone died in the house.

Just tell her there's no one there and there's nothing to worry about. Tell her to come and wake you up if she hears the noises again. I suggest that you have a thorough search of the house with another adult. Maybe check if there are any broken pipes or doors or anything that would make a noise.

Where is daddy? Is he returning? This is common in children who feel abandoned by a parent. If he is returning after a long time apart, you have to re-assure her that her daddy loves her, misses her and will be back as soon as he can.
If he has been deployed, she knows there is a chance he won't return. Talk to her about that. Re-assure her that she is safe in the house.

Support her, tell her there is no need to be afraid. Encourage her to talk to you about it.
We noticed at an early age that my four year old niece is the same way.
