I'm a Seventh Day Adventist and I'm curious about what our reputation is, cause one time, a guy at school said Seventh Day Adventist make mormons look normal and a lot of people think badly of mormons so I don't think that's anything good. Please only answer this if you have heard of Seventh Day Adventists.

The SDA church is classified as Christian/Protestant/Evangelical, just so you know.

Just so you know, we are called Seventh Day because we worship God on Sabbath (saturday) instead of Sunday. And we are called Adventist because we believe in the advent of Jesus Christ and our denomination puts a stress on the urgency of His coming. We also follow the kosher laws about certain animals being clean or unclean in Levicticus (no other kosher laws though). We also don't believe that people go to heaven or hell immediately but that they are dead until Jesus comes and they are ressurected. We also believe that Hell is like a death sentence and that people who go there are destroyed rather than tortured for eternity. That's pretty much all that makes us different from the rest of the Christians. We too believe that you must believe in Jesus and repent of your sins in order to be saved.

Years ago I went to a seminar held by a local S.D.A. church. This was for 12 weeks. I found that they were the nicest people I have ever met. When I had a miscarriage, not a single person from my own church came to see me. But 3 days out of one week...at least 3 of those people from the S.A.D. church came to visit!! I was very touched by their caring for me, even though I was not a member.
No sweetie.....your church can not be mistaken for the Mormons. They are very confused and mislead.

I am a former Adventist.
Some Adventist are Christians. Some Adventist are horribly legalistic. The organization of SDA, as a whole, is corrupt. Many leaders in this church have seen the errors in the doctrines and tried to make changes. When they begin to hold Grace too highly they are alienated by the organization; they lose their job; they are apostate.
The Adventist belief that the Sabbath is the "second test of salvation" (belief in Christ is the first test) makes it a Christian Cult. If you fail the second test you will go to hell.
According to my Adventist family and friends, I am going to hell because I have stopped being an Adventist. I have stopped "keeping the Sabbath" and even though I believe in Christ more than ever...I will go to hell for not keeping the Sabbath.
Our salvation is all about what we think of Christ!!!! Not whether or not we attend church on a certain day.

Seventh Day Adventism is a Judazier heresy started less than 150 years ago by Ellen G White, her husband and another preacher. These 3 came out of the Millerite Movement another Adventist group which was instructed to disband after the leader the Miller was shown to be a false prophet. He had tried to predict the coming of Christ several times and was proven a liar. E.G. White and her pastors renamed it "the great disappointment" and redefined so as to continue on in heresy.
This group may contain nice naive people but the doctrine is anything but nice. All Christians today by Adventist standards are already pre-marked with the sign of the breast. They teach a fear gospel, deny the existence of hell and misinterpret the bible with a doctrine call soul sleep. The Adventist are also extremely bigoted toward Catholics and the Catholic Church they also attempt to predict the anti-Christ as multiple beings.
Seventh Day Adventism is not a Christian community although many elements might seem to be Christian. They are only classified by a small minority of churches as Christian and that has only occurred in the last 20 years prior to this the Adventist were all viewed in the same light as Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses.
Merry Christmas to all

Back in the '70's I chose to go to a Seventh Day Adventist school. My parents were neutral on the subject and I liked the fact that they wouldn't require conversion for me to attend (I didn't believe in Christianity). Bible study was a required course, but I was assured that it would be taught in an academic fashion and religious practice wouldn't be required. They kept their word. I learned about the faith and respect the fact that they practice things because they are in the Bible---and even though some of those things were inconvenient or against popular culture. They were firm about what they believed and why, yet didn't proselytize. They were respectful of those with other beliefs.
The first week of school, I learned that things like jewelry and makeup were frowned upon but there were no rules against it. I stopped wearing jewelry and wore my make up very light out of respect. Although I am a meat-eater, I learned many things about vegetarianism and healthier eating habits. I could never really understand the prophet Ellen G. White, but I understand how her books help them to understand the Bible.
There are only a handful of Christian denominations that I highly respect, and SDA is one of them. I don't agree with their beliefs, but I certainly respect them.

Your church developed from a group of Baptists who followed a man whose study of the Bible led him to believe he knew when Jesus would return. He taught them to clean up their lives, sell their possessions, and get ready for the return. It didn't happen, though. So, you are still waiting, like the rest of God's children.
The main contention between SDA's and other Christians is over the day of the week to worship. Most Christians worship on Sunday. SDA says Saturday, the Sabbath is still the day to worship.
I understand your reasoning, however the early church chose to make Sunday their day to worship. It was not changed later by the catholics, as the SDA says.
If you see other Christians as OK in their faith, then we see you as OK. But, if you think, as some SDA's do, that you are the only true church, then we have a problem.

properly for starters you haven't any longer committed the unpardonable sin. the reality which you difficulty which you would be breaking the sabbath shows that the Holy spirit remains working on your existence. The unpardonable sin is grieving away the Holy spirit and not listening to him. you're patently starting to be on your relationship with God so in line with threat an thought is whilst you're in a serving variety of interest then you certainly can donate the $ earned on the Sabbath between now and your ending date. (in case you come again to a determination to artwork) you're ending besides so if it have been me on your place, i could dissipate my ill depart :O) Pray and God will help. the 1st time i desperate to maintain the Sabbath i went for a activity at a sparkling company, there have been 40 positions and weekend artwork became a could. in the interview i pronounced i cant artwork on the Sabbath and that they pronounced it can be a difficulty. 2 weeks later i've got been given a telephone call to start up artwork. I grew to become up questioning i could see a brilliant form of latest starters, yet particular contracts have been taken from the corporate so they could no longer positioned anybody on. the reason i've got been given the interest became (God) because of the fact somebody interior of that 2 weeks had family participants issues and give up. so i replaced him and the hours have been from Monday to Friday. WHAT A BLESSING, ONE individual GIVEN a activity FROM 40

I was raised an Adventist. After several years of studying Scripture without the writings of this church's prophet, Ellen White, to tell me what the Bible said I was finally able to see how VERY UNBIBLICAL this church is. I was finally able to see the unperverted, uncorrupted gospel message.
Seventh Day Adventist do believe in faith in Christ for salvation, HOWEVER, they also believe that you MUST KEEP THE SABBATH TO BE SAVED. They believe if you have once been part of their "fold" and you forsake their beliefs that you will go to hell even though you believe in Christ.....if you stop keeping the Sabbath then you nullify faith in Christ. This is a cultic belief.
The Seventh Day Adventist Church's goal is to convert Christians into Adventist....their General Conference president said, "I would rather be known as an Adventist than a Christian".
What is the reputation of the SDA? A wolf in sheep's clothing!!! They market themselves as mainstream christianity while they secretly hold onto cultic doctrines. The Adventist organization is corrupt and deceitful.
I am not saying that you personally are corrupt and deceitful. You may not even know what your church really believes. I encourage you to seek the truth...pray for God to show you the truth!!!

All I know about your faith is that you worship on Saturday as your Sabbath. Besides that, I haven't heard anyone here in Texas put your faith down.

One friend of mine who was looking into them said she had a problem because they didn't believe in a literal hell. I'm not so sure I have a problem with that.
I do have a problem with vegetarianism. Jesus was a lamb eater, as were his disciples. They also drank wine.
