Ok. I have to complete 10 credit hours for National Honors Society in my school. I found to possible places in this zip code - 63125.

Feed My people

&

Applegate Retirement Home (on telegraph rd.)

Ok. I found the email address for Feed My People and I'm going to email them asking if they needed any help during Christmas - I won't be busy because I don't celebrate it.

But, for Applegate Retirement Home - I don't know how to contact them - I prefer email rather than phone... I'm not a really good "phone talker"... lol

Thanks... If you can help me find MORE opportunties in that area code (Exactly - no where close)... THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!

You will be better off if you contact the Nursing Home by phone: just say your name and that you are hoping to perform some community service, and ask them to connect you to the person who is in charge of volunteers.

Those are fairly basic communication skills you need to develop, especially when you go for college and job interviews. This is a low-pressure opportunity to gain some experience and to develop poise and maturity.

Oh, heck call the retirement home. People are usually nice. Just ask for the director of volunteer activities.

It's good to learn some telephone etiquette for job searches and jobs in the future anyway.

All you have to say is "Hello, may I please speak with the volunteer co-ordinator?" (Then they will probably ask who is calling, or put you on hold). When you get to talk to someone, say "My name is Insert Your Name Here and I need to complete 10 credit hours for National Honor Society. I'd be interested in working with Applegate Retirement Home. Is there someone I can speak to about that?"

No reason to be intimidated to call and volunteer. Believe me, organization LOVE those phone calls, you don't need to be a people person AT ALL, just be willing to come in and help.

If you don't want to call, just show up and explain what you are trying to do, they should be able to sign you up and tell you how it works.

you should talk to your NHS teacher, and tell them what you should do if you want to volunteer at that place. your NHS teacher will help you out if you need any help.
because since your teacher asked you to do 10 credits hour of volunteering then your teacher will know most of the place. or you can talk to your peers and ask them what you should do.

that is what i done.

see if they have Habitat for Humanity in your area. You can help someone build a home, and also learn some valuable skills.
